Saints let Ben Watson go to the Ravens. He was obviously our most consistent player on offense, wasn't going to break the bank. Yes he is 35 but he clearly has tread left on the tire, is a great locker room player, and had what looked like great chemistry with Brees.

But we sign Michael Hoomanawanui for 3 more year? Yes he's young and can block but can he step up? Maybe but I'm not super confident

We choose not to keep Khiry Robinson for what I think would be $1.6 million next season. He's 26 and has been productive in the few chances he's been given.

But we choose to re-sign Tim Hightower, who was incredibly productive last year but will be 30 before the season starts. Signing him instead of Khiry Robinson saves us around $650,000...

Doesn't have much tread on his tires. Probably gets a vet exemption too

This thread is really premature without knowing contract details

I just heard on sports radio about the difference between the veteran minimum and what it would take to retain Khiry Robinson was like $600,000. So is it worth saving that amount when Ingram and Spiller are usually knicked up?

I have no idea how much Watson signed for with Baltimore, but he's 35 years old. More power to him for taking the Ravens' buy-high offer. He was a really great Saint for his short time here, but he's got to come crashing down to earth in production.

We didn't "Let him" do anything. He chose to sign there.

As far as I remember, he was only injured this last. He fractured his tibia and had surgery in early November.

So instead you want to bring back Robinson who's coming off a pretty bad broken tibia?

Jesus our a large portion of our fans are bitches. They bitch about who we sign, bitch about who we don't sign, and bitch about who we let go. Then they repeat it for the draft. Stop being a vagina and wait to see how things turn out before publicly expressing your titty-bagging, particularly on day one of FA when you don't even know the details of the deal you are crying about.

Technically yes you are right. But we had just a good of a chance to resign him.

The tender would have been for $1.67m

The vet minimum is under $600k

So when Ingram's hamstring or finger hurts him and Spiller gets his turf toe again, you want to have the keys to Hightower? I'd rather have Khiry shine and can show we don't need Ingram. Letting Khiry go has Chris Ivory written all over it.
