The matter of an attempt to raid one or more of the trusts of its/their assets is going to take some explaining, and I can't come up with a rational reason why-- if he's of sound mind-- TB would attempt this.

Wouldn't the State of Louisiana be entitled to a refund for the financial aid it gave the Saints a few years ago when Benson threatened to pull the Saints from Louisiana? You do remember that...

I personally know Gayle Bird. She was a customer of mine when she had her interior decorating business. I was invited to her and Tom's wedding.

I keep reading about her being in debt and multiple lawsuits against her business. Maybe so, but I can say that in my business dealings with her she displayed integrity and honesty. I never once had a problem with her paying my invoices.

she was one of my favorite customers. I was sad to lose her as a customer when she closed her business, but happy for her getting married.

One thing I liked about dealing with her is she listened to me. If I told her that I thought something on one of her jobs should be done differently or on a different schedule, she would hear me out and 99% of the time she would defer to my opinion, because I knew more about it than she did.

I thought of this when I heard the news about her being the owner of the Saints, in my experience with her, she will listen to someone who has more knowledge than she does. I think she would let the football guys run the football team.

Look everyone, I know it's a very heated debate on which side of the family is right or wrong. There is no way of us knowing until all of the facts come out. The inpouring of local "in the know" tidbits are truly amazing and I'm sure all posters appreciate that, as I know I do. I quite frankly find it amazing, that this board has so much knowledge. But, this is one of the biggest problems the saints have faced ever. That's saying a lot, with Katrina and Bountygate. So, I think it's best to not worry, and know that Goodell will do the right thing.

But the petition supplied by the Leblancs says otherwise. Dude. When you read Rita's suit Gayle looks bad. :shocker:

Gayle may turn out to be a Prima Donna when this is all over, we can't know. But I'll take my chances with Gayle over Rita and her mother every time. I don't have any idea what Rita's brother did to get caught up in this, nor have I ever heard anything good or bad about him. Kinda feel for him, but if Tom is competent, they are SOL.

Them trying to raid the trust is troubling, if it in deed happened.

"In the separate lawsuit in Texas, Renee Benson asserts that her father paid neither insurance nor taxes related to real estate assets that were a part of the trust her mother set up. She said her father also failed to pay rent for a hangar in which one of the Benson companies keeps an aircraft."

What a bitch.

"Nine days after Benson declared she was never to contact him again, Rita printed out a Catholic News Service blog post titled “Pope Francis’ suggested New Year’s resolutions.” In blue ink, she wrote the following message to her grandfather, who is famously devout:

“Paw Paw, I love you. Your family loves you. We need to all work together, to care for each other. There are no better words to live by than these. I love you. Rita.”

That's honestly heartbreaking to read.

I can't imagine the brutal toll that decision impacts on a grandfather.

And if any judge in this state over turns that and allows Rita's psychotic dipshit arse to run this organization may God have mercy on his soul

Statement From New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans Owner/Chairman of the Board Tom Benson

quote:

“I am extremely disappointed by the lawsuit filed against me today by my daughter and two grandchildren. Their allegations regarding my mental health are completely meritless and their allegations against my wife equally unfounded. I will vigorously defend my decisions and the businesses I have built. The false accusations in this suit further support the actions I have taken in changing the succession and transfer of ownership. There is a small sign that sits on my desk and simply states "Tough times never last; but tough people do." Make no mistake, I will be back in the office tomorrow morning working hard, as I do every day, to ensure that the Saints and Pelicans are positioned for long-term success. This State, City and our great fans deserve that. I have instructed my staff to have no comment on this lawsuit moving forward.”

It doesn't seem to read the same as the letter he sent to his family in December. Reads to me as if someone else wrote this statement.

Breaking news:

As punishment for deflating balls, Bellichick must decide who the owner of the Saints is. Which will require him being locked in a room with Rita for 10 hours.

It's just a rumor I heard. But the family saw this coming for years and supposedly can prove Gayle restricted contact to Mr Benson from his family and began the process to gain control from the beginning of her marriage. And with all contact monitored she able to control the way he viewed his families actions. And I believe his family documented and asked Mr Benson questions such as who is the president and other under advisement.

I fully expect the children to win. But we shall see.

It all depends on if the court makes him undergo mental testing. If he passes then Tom and Gayle will win, if he fails then the LeBlancs will win. Unless anyone (posters) has had any first hand dealings with Tom recently we are all just throwing crap at a wall.

They have a very tough row to hoe under Louisiana law when it comes to competency to manage affairs and dispose of one's estate. In other words, absent a split from reality or total lack of free will (both of which are extremely difficult to establish with competing psychiatrists), he can do whatever the frick he wants.

What judge in the state of Louisiana wants to be the one that gives the Saints to the Rita's and watch them move?
