Hopefully he's wrong. This would be no bueno IMO.

New Orleans Saints

Round 1 (27): Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina
Round 3 (91): Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky

Where's that second-round pick? It went to the 49ers last year when the Saints traded up to take a running back in the third round. I panned that move in my draft grades, but the back they took ended up being Offensive Rookie of the Year. Yeah, Alvin Kamara is a stud, and I noted my whiff in my re-grades.

As for this draft, tight end makes total sense -- Coby Fleener has been a free-agent bust. Hurst is already ahead of most college tight ends in that he can block. At the end of Day 2, I'm going with the 6-5 White, who threw too many interceptions in college but flashed an NFL skill set. This is about the range I expect him to be taken. I wouldn't be shocked if the Saints went after Drew Brees' successor with their first pick, either.

Can't really disagree with a TE in the first. Would only want a QB in the 3rd if they are very, very sold on him taking over for Brees in 2/3/4 years. I'd rather a LB or DL.

SEems like the Disney talking heads have penciled in Hurst as our 1st round pick. I doubt they move it any time soon.

Would still rather Goedert or Gesicki at TE over Hurst

Either take the QB of the future in the first or don't take one at all.

I'll be unhappy if the Saints take a QB outside of the first round.

Would be ok.

Round 3 (91): Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky

Would riot.

Commit to the one of the top guys or don't waste a pick.

I love these picks. Hurst is the most talented TE in this draft. Yes, his age hurts him but you can't deny his talents. I wouldn't be upset with any of the 3 top TE's. Love the Mike White pick. He a great senior bowl and put up one of the best performances out of all the QB's...even Mayfield.

There is no telling what the Saints are going to do with the first pick. I hope they would go DL or DE.. Garic's mock has them trading the 27th and moving into the 2nd round and getting Mason Rudolph. Not sure what else the Saints would get in return for the 27th pick. The TE class is sort of deep and we could get a good one in the third round.

I agree with the "take a QB in the first, or not at all", but Mike White didn't have horrible college numbers.

YR G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rat
2016 14 280 416 67.3 4363 10.5 11.5 37 7 181.4
2017 13 368 560 65.7 4177 7.5 7.7 26 8 140.8

Here's Drew's stats his last two years at Purdue

YR G Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rat
1999 12 337 554 60.8 3909 7.1 7.0 25 12 130.7
2000 12 309 512 60.4 3668 7.2 7.1 26 12 132.6

Obviously these are just numbers, and they mean little bc of the major differences in competition (Different times, different offensive schemes, etc).

Just wanted to put this out there bc before you immediately rabble off "blah blah its not one of the top 4 qbs, I don't want blah blah" their numbers aren't too far off. And you don't have to be a top drafted qb to be successful.

Was just on NFL radio on XM. Said he felt he did well at the combine.

I'm sold.

Kiper is one of the worst draft gurus there is. Scratch guru insert talking head.
McShay grades out pretty well most years while Mel is...well like watching a horse at aeating briar patch when he talks.

You would be wrong. Goedert maybe but him refusing to run really brings his speed into question.

Gesicki doesn’t even try to block his snot when he sneezes let alone blocking a defender.

I would be very happy with that combo. White has some incredible highlights at WKU. Hurst looks like a perfect TE/slot receiver in the Brees offense. I would be pretty happy with that draft.

my hope we trade back to the browns and let browns get there qb. I have this feeling the browns are going to pick the running back with there first pick .And with 4th overall the best o lineman the kid from nortre Dam and then trade with us to get Lamar Jackson. And we end up with Arden Key and hope we get two number twos with that trade and get mark Andrew's with the second number two we receive. I think Lamar Jackson will be there when we pick . Cleveland system fits Jacskon that's the offense they want to do

In order for that to happen the Browns would have to pass on a QB twice (at #1 and #4) in the hopes that Jackson is still there at #27. I know Cleveland is dumb when it comes to the draft, but do you really think they're that dumb?
