I was looking at the 3-team tiebreaker as it relates to the 1-seed

and with a win today... we would've locked up a potential 3-team tiebreaker with the Packers & Rams

if we had done what we were supposed to today... we would've gone 5-0 against the Bucs, Bears, 49ers, & Eagles

the Packers are 3-1 (lost to the Bucs) against those same 4 teams with 1 more game left against the Bears

The Rams went 3-2 against those 4 teams (swept by the 49ers)

A win today would've meant we could've lost to the Chiefs and 1 of the other 2 games left and as long the Packers lost 1 more (even the AFC's Titans) and the Rams won out... we would've had the 1-seed

ETA: in a 3-way tiebreaker... our head-to-head loss to the Packers does not matter... at least immediately

but with today's loss... should GB win at CHI in week 17... we'd both be 4-1 in the 3-team (relegating the Rams to the 3-seed) and then our loss to GB would make them 1 and the Saints 2

Don’t you love our Saints. 53 years and still finding ways to drop the ball.

Just be glad if the Saints can manage to win the Division. Forget about that other stuff.

With a Magic Number of 1 it would be almost impossible to fail to do so.

Be happy with that, then. That's never been done before in history - four in a row.

I still think we can win out

I still think Tennessee can trip up GB

I still think we are going to the Super Bowl regardless of our seeding

Saints always lose to a shite team. It's a given every year. However the 1 seed would have been gone after next week anyway. Still I would have liked to go into that game as the #1 and seeing what happens. Now that's gone. This loss really is bad because now you face Kansas who we will never beat with Taysom at QB and a Minnesota team playing for their playoff lives. A team that the Saints have been punked by the last 2 big games. These two games could very well be losses. Then you might have to depend on winning against Carolina just to win the division. The 2nd seed is basically useless now. So you play wildcard weekend regardless and could face a team we likely won't matchup well against. This team has generally folded early and struggled when not getting a bye.

Could happen.

If so, then Carolina will be a tough out. They will be very eager to put the Saints in the Playoffs as a Wildcard.

The Chiefs don't need to beat us like we need to beat them. If they drop an NFC game then they still hold the tie breaker on the Steelers for the number 1 seed. Not saying they wont play hard just saying that it means more to us.

Have to win out and hope the packers lose one, which is possible. I can see them losing to any of the remaining teams on their schedule. Not likely but possible.

I agree. Saints choked. There is no excuse, and they won’t go anywhere in the playoffs.

Saints aren’t winning another SB.

Haven’t you people learned anything yet in the last few years?
