With comments from Joey and his mom going public about their already obvious friction with the SD organization.

If Bosa was made available or if SD was willing to entertain phone calls what would you be willing to give in pick value to acquire him?

At this point bust potential must be taken into consideration however Bosa was a top 5 draft talent and plays a position of need. The potential impact of having a DL featuring Jordan, Rankins, Fairley, and Bosa with our reserves would make our DL a top 10 unit in talent this year.

If Bosa hits as a player...Him, Rankins, and Jordan would be locked down for the next 4-5 years together.

A 1st rounder is a given due to SD's investment already with a top 3 selection however if SD asked for an additional 3rd...would you?

This is where I am at too. A 1st + 3rd for Bosa, resign Brees and Unger, draft a OG/LB in the 2nd, add the other in FA and ride out Drew till he can't play.

It would likely have to be more than simply a 1st and a 3rd. Maybe even two 1's.

Goodluck. What Bosa is requesting is unprecedented in NFL contracts for rookies. But the Bosa camp made a good compromise...pay the bonus money upfront or drop the offset language. Chargers being dickheads about both.

It pretty much negates the leverage of the employer. I would argue if this is agreed to it will change the relationship/leverage at the next CBA.

If a player openly wants out and refuses to sign you don't have the leverage to pull 2 1sts unless your talking to a proven backend draft team like Seattle or NE. A 1st and 2nd tops IMO. Bosa has already skipped OTA's and a major portion of TC already. He may have talent but he has major risk too.

It's not really unprecedented though

quote:

Bosa’s camp has repeatedly expressed a willingness to compromise and accept either the offset language or the signing bonus deferral, but the Chargers appear unwilling to budge.

quote:

Precedent around the league certainly supports compromising with Bosa on either, or both, of these issues. Since 2012, each third overall pick has signed a contract that either contained offset language or a deferred signing bonus. Both Jared Goff and Jalen Ramsey, the players selected first and fifth overall in the 2016 draft, signed contracts with no offset language but with the signing bonus fully guaranteed in their rookie seasons.

Article says deadline to trade him is tomorrow...Is that only a stipulation for an unsigned rookie player or could he be allowed to be traded later this same year if he agreed to sign his contract as part of a deal to facilitate a trade to another franchise after that date?

From what I have read that is the stipulation for unsigned rookie players.
Also this, if Bosa declines to sign his rookie deal, which is slotted based on his draft position, then the Chargers would have until the Tuesday after Week 10 to sign him. If not, he would be ineligible to play this season. Then he could re-enter into the 2017 NFL draft. He won't be able to talk to any NFL team before the draft but his name would go back in.

I think there is a 0% chance either side lets that happen. SD would be flushing their rights to a no.3 pick with no compensation and Bosa would lose a lot of money from falling in next years draft.

However facilitatating a trade through his signing could happen if this situation gets pushed any further.

Huh? It is actually the norm with the top picks in the draft.

First round money is generally set. What's his problem?

Fully guaranteed money in his signing bonus and contract language.

Most top picks get one or the other and he says will cave on one as most top picks do but Chargers are playing hard ball and appear to be warring against their own player refusing thus far to give on either.

I thought signing bonus money was always guaranteed?

Any way someone in this is being very stupid.

They spread the bonus out over several years and tie it to things like offseason workout participation. It incentives' kids to stay part of the offseason programs. Without that could be tough to keep them engaged.

Tom Telesco their current GM or their leadership doesn't have the best track record in handling personnel honestly especially after what happened with Weddle last year.

The Dolts position

Not sure what the Dolts are thinking here?

I am thinking that they are not thinking and that we should try to exploit this situation for our own gain.
