Can't link since I'm not a member but he says taysom is the future and he thinks Payton thought he would unleash him by now
I know there were many doubters here and those who doubted the contract

Options don’t get paid low tier starter money.

But they do. Every single rookie in the nfl gets paid low tier starter money. Until the player has actually proven themselves on the field they won’t get real money. Taysom hasn’t had to prove himself as a quarterback yet therefore he gets paid like it.

Jameis will more likely be starting qb of Colts or Steelers than Saints in '21.

eta: You're fighting a lot of obviousness. That's cool if you really think this but you will be wrong.

You know what's happened since now and January. Drew talks about split role and acceptance with Taysom and Taysom is extended starting tier qb monies into 2021 season.

Two connected reporters who get leaks from the top are pushing Payton's narrative.

if you keep saying he got starting QB money, you may just convince yourself he got starting QB money

for your next act, youll convince yourself he's the QB2 and signing Winston means nothing

don't be naive gyno. he received a 1 yr 17 mill extension to his locked in RFA tender. argue about something at least debatable man.

People can twist it all you want. He didn’t have to sign his tender and the saints could of locked him up long term if he was truly the next man up. He signed a 2 year deal averaging 10 mill a year. That is how any gm would look at this deal. Why? Cause that is what that deal is. Is Hill the future? Possibly. Freak athlete. I don’t think he is but he’s gonna be given an opportunity. I find it hard to believe a 30 year old player who hasn’t received the opportunity yet is the actual guy. Add that to his history of injuries when given the full time job is horrible. Man averaged a bit over 7 games a year in college. If he couldn’t take the pounding there i doubt he’s able to take it here. We’re sure gonna see.

Payton doesn’t even believe his own narrative

He inserted Teddy last year when it mattered and went 5-0. Them signed Jameis for this season for the same reasons.

Good, 31 year old 1st time starting QBs do not exist. Like ever. In the history of football. A guy with 10 professional passes who they refuse to give “development” reps to when available is not all of a sudden breaking that mold.

Please

That is a contract of a guy who will play increased snaps RB/ WR/TE, the occasional snap at QB, with the opportunity to "compete" for a chance after Brees retires. No one even knows if Brees is retiring.

WRs like Quincy Enunwa, Kenny Stills, Adam Humphries, Randall Cobb, John Ross, and Jamison Crowder all have more that $16+ mil in guarantees. Maybe shift your jaded to perception to that of "he got paid like a WR2/WR3 role player type who can als play all over the formation". There is value in that and it's not a knock. You'll sleep better at night

That's not how negotiating with RFA's work.

I didn't say he does. I think he will have to radically change the offense to fit Hill though so that would require a clean slate over a full offseason with Brees gone to give him the best chance to succeed.

I'm not saying I believe Taysom is the guy though. Payton may be wishcasting.

So what starting QBs in the NFL not on their rookie deal make an average of $10.5 million a year?
