I’ve always said that high level OCs overthink short yardage. Every staff needs a high school coach on it just to yell “just get the damn first down” into the headset in those situations.

If by “high level OC”, you mean he currently works in the NFL, fine. The only thing “high level” about Carmichael is his incompetence.

Typical Carr - rarely passes beyond the 1st down marker. 2 yards and gets it to the line of scrimmage.

That’s what I meant. Carmichael is bad, but isn’t alone in overthinking short yardage. Seattle lost to the Patriots in a Super Bowl because of trying to play 4-D chess. How many LSU drives stalled this year because Denbrock refused to simply call a QB Sneak?
