Is everybody on board with losing the rest of the season?

At this point I don't need to see anymore wins this season. I'll take a full blowup of this team instead of just being average with an average draft pick. I want to see our young talent develop and make a push to a contender again in 3-4 years without Brees as the qb.

If you aren't making the playoffs, which this team is not, the smart thing to do is to tank. Fans hate it, it's not the best business move, but strategically it's the most advantageous.

Why does it take 3-4 years? Atlanta was doo doo last year and they are 5-0 this year.

But this year is lost. No doubt.

You gotta break in a rookie qb or get lucky again like brees. But we have so many holes we need a lot of assets and time for the young players to develop.

As much as I'd like to buy into this, we don't have a Julio Jones or a Davonte Freeman on the current roster for next season. Nor a QB entering his prime.

Nah, draft the best WR you can next year in the first. (Doctson or Treadwell) Draft a beast mode DE in the second. Then get 2 new guards in the 3rd and 4th. Another WR in the 5th. And then another DE in the 6th.

Boom. Let's compete again next year.

I agree with the qb problem, b/c finding a legit qb isn't exactly an easy thing to do. Even if our drafts are half as good as this year...we should be doing good by 2017. Unfortunately, a good qb is a must to win a SB. Our biggest concern shouldn't be building the team as a whole, b/c that's actually not that hard(to people that can actually identify talent)...the hard thing is getting a legit qb to lead them. Ireland knows what he's doing...the only problem is that even the best scouts will tell you that projecting a college QB to the pros is extremely hard. Manning and Luck aren't the norm. Personally, I can spot WR talent a mile away, but I really have no clue when it comes to qb's that aren't surefire studs.

Atlanta has a roster chalked full of top tier first rounders. They just needed a competent coach to get the best out of them. That said, I am not sold on them. Every ball is bouncing their way.

This isnt basketball. You dont need to tank in the nfl. Theres talent everywhere. However, I am on board to let Grayson start once we hit the midpoint of the season. Might as well see if he has any potential

It's still logical to get the higher draft pick. Having Grayson in there would essentially be tanking and it could help us develop at a quicker rate for the coming years. We need to know if Grayson can handle this or if we need to get someone else in the draft.

No. Tanking is bullshite. We have a lot if young guys on defense I'd like to see bust their asses every play and get experience.

I'd like to see Peat and Armistead continue to develop.

I'd like to see cooks and Snead and Coleman get experience and if like to see the playcall ing improve.

I'd rather the young guys bust their asses, grow as a team and cheer as they win a few games then purposefully throw a year away in the hopes that we draft a good player a couple picks higher next year.

They are terrible. They will suck cause the defense is way to young and brees/payton are too stubborn to play the kind of game that's safer. Brees might be out again soon if he keeps holding on to that ball.

Not sure Rob Ryan and current defensive staff are good teachers. We've had the same d line and lb coaches for years and it's never been good.

How can you develop young talent if you tell them to go out and purposely put forth no effort and lose every game?

Who is going to tank? The coaches? No, they want their jobs. The players? No, they're veterans who don't have the mindset of losing so that some young rookie can come in to save them.

You obviously wouldn't tell them to lose on purpose man come on. If you gave Grayson the reins you would basically lose by default just bc of the sheer amount of young talent on the roster. That doesn't mean they can't develop in losses. I'm just saying I wouldn't mind losing close games the rest of the season.

Agreed.

I actually like McGruff as the secondary coach. We really need a new LB and dline coach. Payton wants to keep Vitt, fine, make vitt just a general defensive assistant and hire a dedicated linebacker coach

So you're for trading Brees or just benching him?

I would absolutely gauge the leagues interest in him and trade him for the right deal. It's pretty obvious brees will only keep you average and that's just not good enough if you want a title going forward.

You obviously could never bench brees. You wouldn't put Grayson in till you flipped brees for something. It's gotta happen for this franchise to move forward.

I think you've lost your fricking mind. If you want to trade Brees go ahead and say that, but you think he's a barely average QB? You're nuts.

If we draft a competent guard and bench Streif the rest of the season to train Peat and come back next year with a halfway competent oline, Brees will be fine.

Brees isn't the issue. Playcalling and blocking is the issue. P
