I write this as a life-long Saints fan - began watching them in the late-70's so it is not a flame. Now that I live out of state, I buy the NFL package just to watch them.

Just wondering if we are like the Cubs - A Loveable Loser? You know they have had their share of disappointment but they are beloved in their hometown.

It's like they get in your blood, regardless of how the season went, you still want more.

I've used that reference many times to explain to others my allegiance. My hope is to see them once win a Super Bowl. It took the Red Sox a while to expunge their curse. I'm sure the lifers there are glad they stuck. Hell, these are golden years compared to the first 11 when they won a total of 39 games.

The Saints and the Cub situation is almost identical -- reliable losers adored by their long suffering fans. The Red Sox were the same until they won the World Series. We both are America's Un-Team.

Which begs the question: who's our Steve Bartman?

Cubs fans are cliched, entitled little whiny bitches. "Wahhh look at me. I'm a Cubs fan - LOVE me because my team is historically bad."

Saints fans are cool as shite and do NOT feel entitled.

If you don't believe me, check out the MSB back when the Cubs were eliminated this past fall. There were tons of threads full of people gloating about it. Cubs fans are almost as despised as Cowboys fans.

Alejandro, don't be fooled by the popped-collared, douchetool knucklefricks you see in the bleachers in Wrigley Field.

i honestly don't feel the hate, i think to most, we are irrelevant as Saints fans, and the difference with the Cubs is that they have history, thats why we are hated I guess.
