Sean Payton is a f'n idiot! I could MAYBE understand bringing in this kid as a FS, but he's telling him corner? Please tell me we just didn't WASTE a 14th pick in the first round for a F'N NICKLE BACK! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! If not, why did we waste our time signing Greer and THEN go spend a 1st round pick on a CB? Sean Payton is a moron!

yeah kinda weird. we drafted porter to be a cover corner.. which he should be solid.. we signed greer this offseason. we signed gay last offseason and jd the season before..

Who would you have drafted if you were making the decision? Just so you know and it's evident that you don't, Sean Payton isn't the only one making the decisions. They happen to have a GM and an owner.

you need to be more specific, if you're going to be critical of them not trading down. You must have some inside info that the Saints didn't have about a trading partner.

the broncos traded their 1st next year for pick #37, which is 23 spots after our #14

Okay, my apologies. Let me spread the blame around.
Loomis, Benson, Williams and whoever else was involved with this part ARE ALL IDIOTS!

Ive thought about this and the only thing that I can come up with is that Randle Gay will be moving to FS that he has played with New England. This would leave us with Porter, Greer, Jenkins, Young. Either way, bye bye Jason David.

6:38 p.m. Mike Triplett: Just got off the phone with Malcolm Jenkins, and naturally there was a lot of talk about what position he'll play in New Orleans.
He said the plan is for him to come in as a cornerback, but he's open to moving to safety if that's where he fits best.
"To be honest, I really don't have a preference," Jenkins said -- the kind of answer that must have impressed the Saints leading up to the draft. "I can see myself playing corner and being a dominant corner and having success there. And I can see myself playing safety and doing the same thing."
Jenkins said he spoke to Coach Sean Payton on the phone this afternoon, but he spent a lot of time with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and secondary coach Dennis Allen leading up to the draft -- including a personal dinner the night before his Pro Day at Ohio State. He said they got to know a lot about each other that night and really felt comfortable with each other.

I have no problem with the pick. It added depth to our secondary, which wasn't that good last year. I guess during the OTAs and/or the first few days of training camp (if he signs early) they'll decide on his position.

GW is very innovative and is known best for getting the most out of what talent each player has. Safeties in his scheme are often interchangeable rather than strictly FS/SS.
He's sposes to be a very bright kid. I wouldn't be surprised to see him installed in varied unconventional hybrid uses.

another interview-
HERE
Q: Can you discuss if the prospects of moving to safety would be something you would welcome?
A: Yes, it’s definitely something I would welcome. Wherever I would help the team is what I’m going to do. If that’s at safety, I’m going to play. If that’s at corner, that’s where I’m going to play. Regardless, I’m trying to put this team in the best position to win.
Q: How much experience do you have at safety?
A: I think there was one season I played corner and safety pretty much every game for about 12 games. It gave me experience in terms of learning defenses and what everybody is supposed to do. That’s something I did at Ohio State from the corner position. It’s about learning the defenses and the film study.
Q: Were you talking back and forth with Gregg Williams and Dennis Allen about playing both corner and safety or were your discussions with them about exclusively playing corner?
A: They told me that they thought I was a corner, but that they were going to look at what they had as far as the secondary.
