Hadn't seen anyone address this yet, but how weak minded of a HC can you be if this actually plays in your decision-making process during the draft?

how much can gain if you move up, they are picking 10th, its not like the pick is in the 50s

Guess that depends if the player is still there and how much they value that other guy over the field. But, for sake of consideration, if you put any faith in those value charts throw in your 4th and they'll be 3rd today. Throw in a 5th and you can jump 3-4 spots.

Guess it just depends on who and the position if it'll be worth 2 picks to try to get someone that will really contribute or if you're trying to fill depth with your high 2nd rounder.

I have watched enough football and have come to the conclusion that I will never be mad at the Saints for taking an OT, DE, or CB with their first pick, regardless of who we have at the position already. Most people on this board hated the Alonte Taylor pick and he may have been our most important secondary piece last year.

I don't know if they want to replace Ruiz. He has really stepped up and improved. Plus he can rotate right over to center if McCoy gets hurt. I don't think they would be looking to replace that. Plus when Peat becomes unavailable again Hurst and Throck are viable replacements if Penning takes T. Or maybe there's an outside shot Penning could move to guard if he doesn't secure LT.

All in all, I don't think Allen was referring to Torrence.

We could use a younger safety but the fans wouldn't be happy with that pick. Maybe that's the position he was referring to.

Rumor it was Addison SC WR that Vikes took

I saw that too. Where two teams were trying to trade for that pick Saints and KC and one of them wanted Addison. So 50 50 chance it was us. Vikes wanted addison too and decide compensation didn't match the value they had on the WR

I'm guessing it was KC targeting Addison. Their current depth chart lacks 'complete' wide receivers. They have a lot of one-trick ponies at the position.

QB or T are the only positions I could see people being upset if we drafted instead and honestly QB is questionable. I personally don't have strong opinion on Carr one way or the other so if they thought a QB was capable of possibly supplanting him in the near future, take your shot. Only reason I would have an issue with T is because we just took Penning last season and Ram is top tier. I guess RB also only because the top 2 were gone already but if either fell, I wouldn't have melted.

i could see them going QB with one of the 5th round picks if we still had them at that point.

we desperately need a backup QB because winston is trash and he isnt the answer as a reliable backup

Guess it depends on who falls, but will they really get someone that much better than Luton in the 5th?

Makes me wonder if they will try to move up from 40 tonight.

If your highly rated guy is there why not try. Shouldn't cost much to move from 40. Problem is 27 other teams may want to do the same

It was for Levis or Hooker. That’s obvious. If either fall to 40 I wouldn’t be mad at them taking their shot. If Carr lights it up for us and we have a rookie pushing him too then you can trace Carr or the young QB for a nice haul of draft picks. We are paying Carr mid tier QB money so if he plays good QB needy teams would happily take his contract on in a trade.

Pretty clear what the position was

Dennis Allen on people being mad about other options for the pick at 29, and if one of those was a QB : "That was a potential"

Did he say he wouldn’t have taken the pick because of the potential uproar? If not don’t get the point.

I think so as well. I thought they would jump Cincy to get him as he is a perfect fit for the Bengals.

I hate that DA is so weak that he possibly made a decision based on what fans might say.

And I think Bresee was the right pick.
