If we want this team to be better, we need to consider benching Brees

I know this won't be popular, and I use "we" as if I'm a part of the Saints organization, lol, but something to consider:
1. Brees isn't healthy. He isn't 100% with his shoulder. He can't throw a deep ball. His throws lack the zip they normally do. He's still accurate, but his arm ensures the big play is gone.
2. Brees is getting sacked too much. So much to where I don't think he finishes the season and may risk an even more serious injury trying to keep a play alive or be blind sided.
3. This team is in the middle of a serious rebuild and needs to get playmakers for him to get the ball to. Another draft and hopefully a free agent signing will go a long way. Also upgrading the O line.
To have a shot at being a decent team for the next 2-3 years (maybe) we need to shelf Brees and have him come back healthy.

The only good reason to bench Brees is if he is not healthy. Thats it.

Can you think of a time a team ever did this? he would never allow it. It sounds ridiculous, but if you told Brees those reasons are why you are benching him he would laugh in your face. No way you can bench this guy for the rest of the season in his Age 36 year and say "we'll get 'em next year!"

I think that using "we" is appropriate for fans.....they wouldn't have a football team if it weren't for us.
The whole system is predicated around the fans feeling as if they are a part of the team and it's success.
Brees plays if he is healthy. Shouldn't if he is not.

I don't want to agree with you. You're wrong. I mean you might be right. I hope you aren't. I hope I'm not either. But you might be. But you're not. And I hope I don't have to come back here and say I was right because I'm probably wrong but I'll say I'm right.

It probably won't happen unless we are like 1-10 towards the end of the season. I personally would like to see what Grayson has in him as a rookie to determine if his skill set will benefit us in the future. I was a big fan of him in college, so I kind of hope he has the Aaron Rodgers effect after Favre left GB. Grayson is actually kind of mobile in the pocket in a similar way to Rodgers, but of course the accuracy/decision making isn't going to be there immediately. I can only hope it works out for GG.

At the beginning of the game Drew threw an incomplete pass to Cooks that went at least 45 yards in the air. It was a bad decision but I was relieved because I realized he could still drive the ball down the field. I'm not understanding why so many people think he cant get the ball down the field.

Brees doesn't need to be benched, people just need to wake up and realize that no matter who is at QB, this is a TEAM game. If Brees had Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Julian Edelman in the slot, we'd be talking about how he's on pace for 6,000 yards and 60 TD's. However he doesn't, he's got an aging Colston, Cooks and then a bunch of undrafted guys are still very raw. On top of that, our offensive line is a joke and in need of upgrades throughout it save Armstead and Unger. Now mix that in with a defense that can't stop shite and you've got a 1-4 Saints team. However, when everything goes wrong, it's on the QB for whatever reason.
Off the field, this front office and scouting department have got to get on the ball when it comes to the draft. That's where it all matters in my opinion. In free agency, go after smart guys who aren't looking to cash in because they performed. Go after key role players who know the game and can contribute in different ways. Spiller is a great example, although I'd of preferred Shane Vereen. James Jones being another, Daryl Smith a couple years ago with the Ravens and so on and so forth.
These high priced free agents performed so well because they were in systems or on rosters that allowed them to do so. Now they're not even taking any of that into consideration, just who is gonna fatten their bank account the most.
Tldr: The Saints have to get better as a team, not just Brees.

You get 24 hours beginning the moment the game ends to melt.
After that, it's time to start making better threads/posts.
We're on to Atlanta.
