Could there be more riding on this law suit for Goodell than just the damage$$ being saught after by Vilma? Do ya'll think Goodell's job is on the line at this point?

I do. His credibility is definitely riding on it. If goodell comes out of this looking like a liar and cheat he deserves to be punished by the owners. The only punishment that would be fair would be to fire him.

Idk if he will or not but he should.

If Vilma prevails anyway the evidence gets released and SP's suspension gets reduced ig Goodell if canned?

Nah. Owners just doubled his salary. Unless it comes out that Goodell just lied or falsified evidence don't think the owners would can him

Goodell is hiding behind the NFL. He will only talk about the safety of the players and game. look he will ride this thing out and the fans and media will lose interest. If I were Vilma I'd hire people in the media to pay attention to this and bring it up every so often to keep the public's pulse high.

Do the owners have the authority to suspend Goodell? If so, I see this as a real possibility.

Lots of black and gold drenched kool aid drinkers in here.

Goodell and the NFL will crush Vilma like a bug.

This is the easiest question in a long time.

I remember reading about how the USFL prevailed in an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL where they proved the NFL engaged in unfair competition. They won three dollars and never played another game.

for getting a 10 year labor deal done.

I think that carries a lot of weight for them.

Doubtful. Vilma wouldn't have filed this if he were going to get crushed, but I doubt he thinks he can bring down Goodell either. I think the best case scenario for this is it gives the Union more leverage in their bid to have the penalties decided by someone besides Goodell and Vilma gets his suspension reduced.

The best result will be the evidence being released publicly for everyone to make their own opinions while having the players be able to publicly refute certain things.

your lack of comprehension as to the purpose of this lawsuit is astounding

I comprehend the purpose just fine, pseudosmart guy. I'm a lawyer.

Your lack of comprehension of the power of Goodell and all the power players of the NFL and how they all have a common long term strategy is astounding. They all agree on a permanent long term plan for the NFL and they will not be altered by a tiny bump that is a Vilma lawsuit.

Vilma will remain suspended, Goodell will remain commissioner, and life will go on.

Forced out by who? Only the owners can do that...and they're the ones who put him there. He represents them, and they dig him.

First of all, Goodell isn't going to lose this case. Defamation is a lot like libel, its really, really hard to prove. Second of all, its not going to have any effect on SP, because he physically told Payton to stop with this shite and it still went on. Hopefully it will reduce Vilma's insane suspension.
