The ridiculous full season suspension in 2012 altered the course of the franchise. If the Saints had stayed on the same trajectory that they had prior to the suspension, would this even be a topic of discussion? Of course not.

Here's to Roger Goodell, the worst commissioner in sports. Never forget.

While it was a horrible ruling, the Saints have had PLENTY of time to get back on track. Don't just blame it on that. Horrible drafting, awful free agent signings, over inflated contracts, dead money, etc. etc. have sunk this organization in the past 3 years.

Nope

The OP is correct

No telling how things would have been if Goodell wasn't such an A hole

The thing that you don't say is we were #1 and NO team took us down. The Commissioner stripped this city. No other Super Bowl winning team can say that. We were made an example out of. We had a good thing going and the league came in and DEFLATED us. He gutted our coaching staff. Remember when we were good on D? Yea, me too and Gooddell came in and said he can't coach for y'all. Even Pete Carmicheal, Joe Vitt, and Mickey Loomis were all Suspended. Not only suspended but could not even INTERACT. This organization has Gooddell's fingerprints all over it.
It fractured our team inside the locker room. Tensions were risen, pressure escalated. Tends to happen when you start losing. Ever since, Mickey and CSP have been playing catch up. Reaching and trying to make the perfect signings. Who knows? Maybe we could have made another Super Bowl run, at least defended it with our coaching staff, but no we were made an example out of. So to say the suspensions & penalties, in 2012, did NOT alter the course of this franchise is simply False. It has altered our very own organization, that's the way I see it.
