IMHO I think it is hurting Meachems confidence that the coaches don't show much confidence in him. That has to affect a player in some fashion. If your coaching staff has no faith in you, that has to make you a bit hesitant and uptight to the point it affects your play. I know he has it in him, but Payton and the coaches aren't helping his case much either.

Maybe we should give him food stamps to.

Maybe he should go hang out with Vince Young and they can prance around in flower patch holding hands.

Point is he is being paid alot of money and hasnt done shite to earn it. I dont care if his confidence is hurt, the millions of dollars he is making should be more than enough to restore his confidence.

one score after 17 inactive games for a first rounder doesn't deserve a ball licking, maybe a pat on the back

The sad thing is that if I was hired and didn't show up to my job for over a year I would be fired. Meachem on the other hand gets a pat on the back.

I should have worked harder on being 6'3" and running a 4.4.

Did some Meachum apologist make this up one day or is it actually so?

I know Dwayne Bowe started for the Chiefs his first year. I'm pretty sure Dante Stallworth didn't sit around for 2 years waiting to crack the lineup.

Hold up dude, you might have misunderstood me. Or maybe I wasn't clear on my point. Anyway, It seems like it's just a revolving door. If they don't coach him up, put him in there, or put extra time into him to get him in the playbook, what was the fricking point of wasting all that money on him? Who looks like the fool here? Not Meachem.

frick no I don't feel sorry for him, but he wont progress in the system without some chances or help with whatever weakness he has. I mean, I know this is a mans sport and you shouldn't need someone to hold your hand or anything, but come on already.

That's alot of money to ride the short bus.

I'm fully confident the coaching staff is doing everything they can to get him on the field. I highly doubt they just send him out to practice and make fun of him all day. He would've seen the field already if he was capable.

Ha Ha!! I just envisioned what you just said. Imagine it:

Payton- "Man this is a boring practice."

Marrone- "Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing."

Payton- "Hey, look at Meachem over there by the cooler playing speed stack with those gatoraid cups."

Marrone- "Hey, call his number to sub in for Colston." "Here, use this 300 watt megaphone we just got yesterday."

Payton- (Laughing as he tells Brees to audible out of the play repeatedly) "17 put down those cups and get in the huddle!"

Most WR who are drafted play. What I meant by "come into their own" was learn the offense and start producing and become big time players, a la Chris Chambers, Randel El, Plexico. Hell, T.O. and Chris Carter didn't do crap for a few years. The Moss's, Bolden's and Fitzgeralds are the exceptions.

That's some funny crap there Whodatfan.

Brees to Payton: "Coach, Meachem looks as lost as Paris Hilton at a chastity symposium."

Payton: "May as well put a handkerchief on his eyes and give him a stick. The kid looks like he's at a Mexican birthday party trying to get the candy out of a piñata."

Meachem: "Coach, what happens if Patton, Moore, Henderson, and Copper go down? Can I get in the game?"

Payton: "We'll see son. We'll see."

For the thousandth time...who gives a sh** if he is in uniform or not. There is a reason he hasn't dressed out. We are talking dressing not playing. He is a waste of a pick. People get excited about a 1st rounder getting activated. This is a ridiculous discussion as are all Meachem topics.

Yah, I understand your point. It seems last year he was working with Patten I think to help him with his troubles. What is he doing now? I mean I really could care less if ever plays. If I was him I wouldnt play either, I would just do enough to stay on the roster and soak up the millions being paid to me. Hell, if I was good enough, I would let the 350 lb D-lineman sit on me for league minimum.

You guys will all be eating crow about Meach by year's end .... this guy will be special.

He's been nothing but hurt ... no lack of performance ... just hurt ... so everyone even suggesting he is a bust is retarded!

Actually being hurt is directly proportional to playing time which is directly proportional to performance. If he cant play due to being hurt, he cant perform.

Ummm... no, actually Meach is the retarded one.

A recent NOLA interview has Payton quoted indicating that Meach can't learn the playbook. That's why he missed the last 4-5 games of 07 and the 1st game of 08.

I take it back that Meach is retarded. That's obviously being too hard on him. Maybe he's dyslexic, or has to learn on his own terms. But that's what's holding him back. Not injuries.
