I know the roster isn't set in stone yet, but LB'r is a giant hole in the roster right now

Demario Davis (11 year starter)
Pete Werner (3 year starter)

Ty Summers (5th year - journeyman)
Zack Baun (4th Year journeyman)
Ryan Connelly (4th Year journeyman)
Andrew Dowell (3 year special teamer)
D'Marco Jackson(2nd year special teamer)
Nephi Sewell (1 year unknown)
Nick Anderson (Rookie UDFA)
Anfernee Oriji (Rookie UDFA)

I don't see 3 clear cut starters in this list much less the 5 or 6 quality roster players that is likely needed.

I got 2 anchors in the defensive middle and a bunch of question marks or special teamers at best.

I expect D'Marco Jackson to take a step forward and be the 3rd or 4th guy with Baun.

Good thing we don't need 3 clear cut starters in the modern NFL

Modern football really only starts 2 linebackers. We have 2 awesome starters. It’s not the best unit in the league depth-wise, but it could be a lot worse.

Yeah okay buddy. He’s severely undersized and won’t make the team

Hell I think both he and Orgy have a shot. I really like Nick as well. As to size 6'1" 225 Dowell is going on his 3rd year with us.

If only Anal Zone wasn't so fragile he would have been a beautiful ball of destruction

They only play 2 LBs. They’ll sign a proven vet as a 3rd guy. The rest are fine as depth and ST guys

Could it really be much worse? We have no proven players behind the two starters. How comfortable are you if DD or PW go down for an extended period of time?

We lost our #1 backup. Thats it from last year. Don't think 'giant hole' is exactly correct

Nitpicky, but shouldn't this really be 2nd year unknown. No idea what he can bring to the table at the position since he was put on IR so early in the preseason. Hell at this point we don't even know what kind of contribution he'll make to STs.

it's easy to say that in may, injuries will inevitably happen. woerner gets hurt a decent amount. baun taking his snaps is not great

I fully expect us to draft a LB on day 1 or 2 next year.
If we dont, someone with starter quality will be signed.
As far as this year, I could also see us stealing someone from a practice squad on a team with a lot of LB depth.

We playing it a little risky right now.

Last year wasn't exactly great. When Werner went down the rest of the LBr's except Davis looked like bubblegum.

How comfortable would any nfl team be losing their top two starters at any position?
Dowell and Baun have a combined 7 years on the Saints. They know how to play the LB'er positions as needed.
Not one single nfl team has no concerns going down to their 3rd and 4th player depth.

How can you consider Zach Baun a journeyman when we drafted him? A journeyman is someone who has played for a lot of teams.

Baun would be lost at will.

Saints have to grab another will linebacker. Dowell is who they have backing up Werner.

Will linebacker
Free safety
Both are pretty big needs imo. Interested to see if Alex philistrom makes the roster as the backup center.
