Kirk Cousins would be a band aid on a severed limb.

he's 28. he still has at least 5-6 years left AFTER next year

Brees was what, 27 when he came here?

Cousins has been a better QB than Luck and nobody would balk at acquiring Luck

I'll be honest and say I was a little upset that the Saints signed Brees over Culpepper in 2006. I remember thinking why sign the guy with a hurt throwing shoulder over a guy with a hurt knee?! Obviously I was dead wrong.

Don't feel bad. I was furious we signed no-name Payton and not Mike Martz to be our head coach. And I was excited we would draft Matt Leinart to be our QB of the future.

Whoops...

he stays healthy, he's commanding top dollar. He's got the best attribute: Availability.

Isn't this Jimmy Garoppolo's last year of his contract?

it would be expected that JG would be franchise tagged hence why Butler could walk.

By Garoppolo not moving I'd guess the Pats think they've got something there. Don't believe he's available

no worries, they will sign Johnny Manziel and Colin Kaepernick to be our quarterbacks and hire Rex Ryan to be our coach. sounds like a plan to me

Glennon just got 18mill a year

Saints fans are so used to complaining about Brenes's contract we can't adjust to the actual price of a good QB

, so what would you rather the organization do in the event Brees doesn't retire here? Cousins? Josh Allen? Some other QB?

The hypothetical worst case scenario is Benson moves the team to Oakland. Outside of that get the best coaches and players you can

There are a few young guys in the league I wouldn't mind seeing what Payton could do with them. The Breesus we know and love was not the same Brees before Payton remember.

Out of the current free agents to be in 2018 Teddy Bridgewater and maybe Geno Smith I could see possibly blooming under Payton's tuteledge.

Agreed, guy throws an accurate ball and has played well on a very avg team
Fwiw, all the metrics guys tend to agree that he isn't as good as his numbers and is propped up by the performance of his offense as opposed to a Brees who is the one lifting up everyone else's game.

For $20+mil or whatever he'll make, I do not want Cousins, at all.

Performance of his offense meaning what? Certainly they can't be talking about the talent around him, which is NFL average

His system? Because if he came here he'd be coming into a dang strong system.

I doubt he comes here anyway. He will probably go to the 49ers just to reunite with Shannahan

Not sure, does this sound like something NE normally does?

Schefter reported Wednesday the Patriots aren’t expected to trade backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, whose rookie contract runs out after the 2017 season. So in order for the Patriots to keep Garoppolo around in 2018 and beyond, if they really view him as the heir apparent to Tom Brady, they’ll have to franchise tag him next offseason, since it seems unlikely he’ll sign a long-term contract with the best quarterback in the history of football still kicking around. That franchise tag will come with a one-year salary of over $20 million.
