How do the Saints and other domed stadiums comply with this?

"Moving all stadium fields to high quality natural grass surfaces is the easiest decision the NFL can make."

I don't think the Superdome was built to have grass moved in and out of it to get the exposure it would need to stay in decent shape.

Arent there a few indoor stadiums that dont have artificial turf?

Im guessing its because the new designs of stadiums let sunlight in or maybe there is some crazy technology im unaware of..

Only one I think of is Arizona. They roll their grass field in and out of the stadium. In the Super Bowl last year, that field was crap. The biggest game of the year and the grass field they covet absolutely sucked for both teams.

This is an over reaction. It won’t get anywhere. Players get injured on grass fields like they do on artificial turf. The artificial turf used now is so much better than what was used before. If NFL did care, the Giants/Jets stadium would have been forced to use natural grass when it was built. The Northeast is hard to keep natural grass perfect in the winter months. Look at Green Bay field in December. Anyone want to play on that?

State Farm Stadium and Allegiant Stadium are the only indoor stadiums (technically State Farm Stadium is a retractable roof stadium) in the NFL that have natural grass fields and they use retractable fields. Several of the retractable roof MLB stadiums (Toronto, Arizona, Texas, and Miami) use artificial turf because using grow lights did not work well even with an open roof.

ETA: MetLife Stadium, SoFi Stadium, AT&T Stadium, etc will have grass fields for the World Cup in a few years but the grass fields are just temporary. There is no way to realistically switch all the NFL stadiums to grass.

There’s nothing wrong with artificial turf.

Tell anyone who is against artificial turf to go to hell.

The stats say otherwise. Players get way more injuries on turf fields.

They can grow high quality weed indoors under full spectrum artificial light sources. No doubt they can do that with domed stadiums too. The problem comes for those that are multi-use arenas. The building owners may have to give up big revenue events because the lights are on the grass and can't be moved.

Then you won't have other events in the dome. You would need to have a roll-in / roll-out system.

Create a hexagonal system where grass can be grown on it, and the platforms can be removed after the game for maintenance and for other events.

Doubt the City of New Orleans / Dome could build 10 stories underground to house same system as Real Madrid.

And the guy who was the leagues scapegoat who cared for superbowl fields forever said they wouldn’t listen to him they over watered the type of grass. That was user error. They never have problems with their normal field.

That was an entire new field for the Super Bowl

Not only that but how is the grass going to look in place like Green Bay and Chicago in the wintertime?
