Benson was a dick in 2005 and trying to move the team to San Antonio. Tagliabue stepped in and convinced him not to at the time. We stumble on Payton and Brees, FEMA basically remodels the Dome, and now the old fart is a god. Amazing.

Let's ignore everything else he's done, like keeping the team here in the first place when he bought the team
He doesn't own the dome, so why would he be the one to remodel it?

Tagliabue credits Gooddell with ensuring the Saints stayed in NO.
