@JeffDuncan_: After winning the Super Bowl in 2009, the #Saints selected 28 players in the 5 drafts from 2010 to 2014. Six of the 28 remain on the roster.

And some people want to blame Brees for his contract? This entire regime should be fired for this gross negligence of running a football team.

Said it a million times already can't do anything without drafts. Be like Packers who have 35 players drafted on their roster right now.

We need to go throw the bank an that entire staff over there and get them here ASAP. Loomis needs to go. It's long overdue.

We had 5 picks in the first three rounds and got 2 starters out of it.

We traded 2 starters to get those picks

Well 5 years is longer than most rookie contracts. What are other team's drafted player retention statistics for comparison?

Not that I'm disagreeing, but we kind of need some scale of reference here. 2010 was a long time ago for every team.

Then we must of had a lambo in 2011 jus saying.
He makes us sound(CSP&Loomis) like 09 and thats it. We have had a run since 06. But after bountygate they have not put humpty dumpty back together again.
Finally perhaps too late they addressed the scouting department with Ireland but CSP refuses to see the lack of development in our D-line linebackers and special teams due to poor coaching.
Dump those three or it will cost you your job coach.

Yeah that wouldn't be totally correct...We did bring home a Lombardi.

So Had the keys to a Ferrari, won a Formula One championship and THEN drove it right into a wall

That's equally about development and Hicks is shining example of that failure.

I'm sorry, but if we trade people away, why does that count against us?

Cuts, I get.

Didnt it come out not too long ago that the Saints have the most scouts in the league?

Lol what a fricking waste.

NE

2010
2, though both are all-pros (McCourty, Gronk)
2011
2, though Shane Vereen was instrumental during the SB
2012
4, Chandler Jones is a great DE and Hightower is one of the best linebackers in the league.
2013
4, Jamie Collins is one of the best linebackers in the league.
2014
4, Stork was the starting center for the SB run.

So the Pats who are a better than average but not top 5 drafting team still have 16 of the players on roster.

Ireland's draft has yet to be seen as a success or not, but this organization certainly pissed away several golden years of talent rich drafts for scrubs.

What frustrates me if that this forum chose better players in our mock drafts going off of lists generated by Kiper and McShay than people who make a healthy salary evaluating this talent for a living.

We would be a better team right now if the forum was allowed to draft for the Saints, and that is so mind bogging

Well maybe the guys we drafted would be good with better coaching.

Obviously.

The problem when it comes to players is two-fold.
Bad drafting combined with bad coaching.
Latter comes from cronyism.

It's easy to say "we'd be better with so and so" but chances are if we drafted someone else, they'd suck too

Vitt and Johnson have been stinking up the NFL for years upon years.
And, oh my God, McMahon.

It just never ends.
CSP refuses to address it.

I was excited in the off season when Sean said we would be shaking up coaches/cleaning house...until assistant coaches' assistants were the ones getting canned.

Vitt, Johnson, and McMahon all have dirt on CSP. That's not speculation, it's fact. As long as he is here, those guys are sticking around.
