No, he has not looked good as a pocket passer.

But you gotta love the way he can move. Although you don't want your QB going airborne, that 2 pt conversion was gorgeous. He moved so fluidly while watching for an open WR; then BAM a small burst and he's in the endzone.

Is it crazy to think if he gained 15-20lbs (we'll say half of it is muscle) that we could utilize him as more of a duel threat?

Obviously thinking worst case scenario as if Drew is gone. But we appear to be LOADED with young talent at WR to go along with a healthy CJ, MI, & Fleener.

We drafted him in the third round, if he can't develop like our other QB's I'd rather us try something outside of the box rather than just cutting him and accepting we made a bad pick.

Thoughts?

I've always really liked Grayson in 3-4 years. I think he could be mobile in the sense that Tony Romo is mobile.

If you say the term "dual threat" in the NFL I pretty much hate you. And this is from someone who thought RG3 was going to revolutionize the game. I've become convinced it's not possible.

I think if Grayson continues to put in the work and develop he could be pretty damn good. I love the option of moving the pocket and changing up the launching point more with our QB.

I'm not a huge fan of the much overused term either, but it is what it is. If he shows the ability (ala Aaron Rodgers?) to run for 10+ yards when he's out of the pocket its just another variable a defense has to account for. I would never expect him to be "Cam 2.0" but he's got the ability to move.

I liked what I saw out of him last night. Started rough but made some decent throws. McCown did not impress me at all. Even if he was playing with the 2s and 3s he made some bone head plays. I don't get what Grayson did to Herbert or detiller but they were still smashing the dude on the radio

I just think "dual threat" is more applicable to QBs who consistently and intentionally present run-pass threats to the defense. These offenses are based around QB run plays that the defense must scheme and rep.

This offense works in college, but I do not believe anymore that it works in the NFL. Even your Cam and Wilson's of the world don't really utilize those design runs much at all (except around the goalline for a monster like Cam). They have morphed into mobile QBs who can move and steal a cheap first down when required but aren't full-time "dual threat" QBs.

It's really just my opinion on the terminology of the label.

I can't disagree with that opinion.

I must be in the minority...I thought he looked bad. Not a future NFL starter.

Stared down his recievers or went thru his options without looking at all of his options. The game seems too fast for him, so far.

And his release point is very low. Elbow way down below his shoulder. Very slow, long release, too.

You can't waste what's not there.

I saw nothing from Grayson last night that gave me hope that he is a serious possibility after Brees is gone.

If he's our starter after brees retires, we get the #1 pick the following year. Book it.
