Drew Brees average amount of pass attempts for Saints every year but 2006 & 2009... 653

Drew Brees pass attempts average for 2006 & 2009... 534

That's a full 7+ more per game

Or look at it from the RB carries...

Avg amt of rushing attempts under Payton except 2006 & 2009... 397

2006 & 2009 rushing attempts avg... 470

That's about 6 more per game.

It's not as easy as just run the ball more but the greater your stable of backs is the easier it is to implement.

One mo... thinking of how much Armstead was out and how good the O line was. Him back and we upgrade to Mass & arse Warford. Methinks Payton is serious in continuing with more run emphasis.

Give AP and Ingram both 10-15, maybe 20 touches a game, Drew only throwing it 35-40 a game, I'd love it

This is an underrated story line IMO. Our OL has the potential to be insanely good this year. Peat & Warford are bulldozers in the run game, Unger is good at everything, Armstead if healthy is one of the best LTs in the NFL and Strief continues to be rock steady, though needs a backup option pronto.

If this group is healthy, our run game is going to maul people.. and Brees is going to carve people up with some time.

Yes, I would be totally fine with the Saints running 80 offensive plays a game.

Well some of the Ingram and AP touches would presumably be catches, so those would overlap with the Drew throws.

But yeah, generally we would want to be throwing around 30 times a game.

They averaged 69.1 in 2016, the most in the league. If we can have a solid 1, 2 punch in the backfield to eat up 30 or so of those, we will be a scary offense, and a lot less predictable.
