There are tons of coaches we don't know because they haven't be given a chance yet. I still don't know the name of the Rams coach. Don't let who ya gonna get, get in the way

"I’ve met with several people — I won’t deny that,” Gruden said in a 40-minute interview with PewterReport.com. “Just about every year I talk about coming back to coach. I’m not in here every day at 4:30 or 4:00 in the morning watching pinball, you know? I’m preparing myself to come back. I am. Every day. I’m preparing to come back.”

Whoever it is, I just pray to god it's not a retread hire like so many teams go with. I hope it's a younger guy with experience in winning programs who can come in and instill his philosophy on the team as a whole and on at least one side of the ball.

Matt Patricia
Mike Vrabel
Sean McDermott
Edgar Bennett

Someone who doesn't fit all of the above, but has shown an ability to work with a young QB, is Todd Downing. As the team will almost certainly be working with a new QB, that will be vital.

Only retread I would consider is McDaniels, maybe he learned something from his failure in Denver and return to New England.

I've beat this drum a million times:

Nick Caserio as GM
Matt Patricia as HC

Just say no to Gruden. One of the most overrated coaches in history.

Why? He is.

He WAS a good coach. He did well with the Raiders. He won a super bowl with basically the team that Dungy built.

And then he did absolutely NOTHING after that, got canned, and hasn't coached again.

People prop him up like he's one of the all time great coaches and he is not. He was a good coach for a little while, but nothing more.

I don’t know if I could handle the 40-50 QBs we would cycle through under a Gruden regime

It doesn't even matter. He's not coming back to coaching.

He gets paid more than most HC to work a few hours a week, as opposed to working 120 hours a week as a HC.

He won't come back unless he thinks his time in TV is winding down, or he gets the most amazing job ever.

Drew Brees with a veteran DC to handle that side of the ball. If Brees wants to play another year or two, make him a player/coach like Pete Rose during the end of his career.

Not being serious but I'd still sort of like the idea in a way.

Brees might be okay in some capacity, but Payton continues to waste draft picks, it's as though Saints had no draft in 2015

And even worse, those fans concerned about what would happen if CSP was gone!
We are a effing 7-9 franchise with him.

He is an overrated OC that can't even put together a decent running game.

He is an absolute 0 without a HOF QB.

We should have never given him a new contract. Should have told him to hit the road when he threatened to leave.

NYG would have never hired him and he wasn't going anywhere without a top 5 QB.

A little off subject, but not really, do you all think a high intensity college coordinator could make the jump to the NFL? Someone like Dave Aranda? Or should the Saints just look at NFL coaches and coordinators?

Benson is not losing any money........ if the saints win only 4 games..... people will continue to pack the dome year after year and Benson is guaranteed to make money due to the salary cap and big TV contracts. Bottom Line !!!!!!
