All signs point to this.. This was his way of making it happen.

It's 100% inevitable

Why is it so hard for people to understand that good coaches don’t want to coach under Jerry. Jerry is the guy who gives the injury report. He’s the guy who gives the weekly update. Reporters go to him for a comment after every game before they talk to the coach. The players can bypass the coach and go straight to the owner. It’s a terribly ran franchise. Payton may coach again and it may not be for the saints. But it won’t be for the cowboys.

If it was the one after then we get draft picks.

He will likely wait until they don't have to.

What signs? Seriously, this has been a baseless rumor forever. Aside from him maintaining a home in Dallas (which is common for both coaches and players), what makes people think he wants to coach there?

He'll take a gigantic TV contract and start enjoying life with his new wife. Honestly, he's been different ever since she came along.

You are wrong.

This isn't about going to dallas.

This is more about taking time off, a new wife, and more money to be on tv.

Maybe he will come back to coaching after a year or two but this isn't a ploy to get to dallas. That's dumb.

PFT jus ran an article that it was a done deal after the Nola no call. Saints and cowboys agreed and compensation was set and everything. They sited AD requesting a trade days later as the reason it fell through. They didn’t want both frsnchises owned going through that much upheaval.

I remember Payton dragging his feet then contemplating retirement until he got the contract extension. If it doesn’t happen this year, it will next year, after McCarthy is fired if they don’t get to a Super Bowl.

You're wrong. Payton is a control freak and has more control in NOLA than he would at any other franchise. Dallas is where he would have the LEAST amount of control. Payton has said he loves Jerry but has no desire to work for him. I think he takes a couple years off and ends up in a team president role somewhere.

When can he legally get the job in Dallas. Do the saints have the rights through 24.

He will never will go to Dallas because of Jerry

I think it's his wife decision. He will be in Los Angeles soon as a broadcaster.

Right now I would prefer him be traded than just retire.

some picks is better than nothing but air.
