Only suspending the leaders and not all participants is just further proof that this is a pr problem for the league at this point.

If the crime itself was as bad as the league has made it out to be, then all bounty participants should be punished.

NO, Goodell said he is punishing the team leaders.

ETA: Didnt read jacks' comment before i posted. Agree with that. But the NFL is sending a message, not punishing a crime. Its why the penalties seem so out of whack. Yes it is extremely unfair, but it isnt uncomprehendable what they are doing. They are hypocritically and unfairly punishing the HC, GM, and team leaders to send a message to the others in the NFL, you frick with us, we will frick with you. Make no mistake about it.

it is not. The silence from defenders and Defensive coaches across the league is deaffening.

They aren't doing either at least not with the players. The message to coaches GMs, etc may be don't frick with us but not the players.

If the NFL wanted to send a message they would suspend everyone involved, regardless of some fungible notion of team leaders, or captaincy.

If the NFL was sending a message of "don't frick with us" they wouldnt just hit a few of the big guys and leave everyone else alone. The message that sends is A) don't get caught or B) don't be a leader or shout on the sidelines about getting your money.

Obviously the league has, or at least feels that it does, evidence of 22-27 players participating. Punishing 3 of them, or even just 8-12 of them, when you have evidence of more isnt "don't frick with us"

That's more like " Don't fricking get caught next time"

I still would like to know exactly which players got paid and for which specific acts. Wouldn't the league need this to punish (besides Vilma obviously)? If no one collected "bounties" then it doesn't seem they should be punished.

Breakout season for Shanle would be a .5 tackle increase and a pulse.

The HC and Gm is sending a message to the other franchises and coaches, the defensive suspensions will be to send a message to the players not to participate in bounties anymore (ar atleast stop emailing about them and keep it contained to the lockeroom)

He'll leave offensive players out of it.
