I think this video echoes what we all thought about Drew Brees original statement and this is coming from a black man. Too bad the rest of the team couldn't share this sentiment.

Yes it was. I’m appalled that this was somehow controversial.

Correct.

And I understand him apologizing the first time for offending anyone. I even defended his first apology on this board. However, the crying look in my eyes and see how sorry I am video he posted was just kind of pathetic. Honestly, I don't know if it made me lose a little respect for him or just pity him like a hurt animal, but really it just made me hate those who demonize him so much more.

It's really sad to see such a generous, caring, talented person completely just broken and weakened and giving in it the fickle hypocritical mob.

It's rough to see such a good hearted and caring guy just get completely blind sided by the rabid hate filled mob. And instead of standing his ground it just broke him. That's really sad

This is exactly how I feel. Every time I try to see the other side of the argument I can't get past this and I get pissed off all over again.

It’s brutal man.

Brees is a guy who by literally every account I have ever read from anyone is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet.

He volunteers not only his money but his time to his community and constantly tries to be the best he can be no matter what he’s doing.

And because he says “I can’t support people disrespecting the flag” and it’s taken out of context his teammates and the national media try to destroy his life?

He has that look on his face of a kid who doesn’t know what he did wrong when you scream at him. It’s just shock and humiliation and despair.

And it’s fricking sad.

I hope Drew knows he has the support of the vast majority of Saints fans.

Drew put this team and this city on his back in one of our darkest hours. I’ve never even heard a bad thing said about the guy.

That's what tone deaf looks like. Not knowing what he did is the point.

If you try to completely tear a man down for being “tone deaf” after he has selflessly served his community for 15 years then you are the problem.

Not to mention these guys know Drew’s character firsthand and knew he was on their side already but they still decided to throw him to the wolves. And that’s insanely fricked up.

Drew and Demario are the only leaders on this team I can stomach anymore.

So the fact that it's coming from a black, non-democrat, makes it not insensitive to people who are hurting right now? A black man can be just as ignorant, which this guy is. Black rebuplicans think they are accepted and must lead the march against black non-republicans to earn their keep.

The comments were very dismissive and came across like his word was law. Change that part of his statement and nobody cares because it's just and opinion. You can give an opinion without sounding like you would chastise anyone who disagreed. That is the difference.

Imagine going into the middle of an angry mob and saying something stupid (innocent or not) and see what happens. I admit it was 100% overkill, but you fricking hit a hornets nest and shocked when you get stung?

Have some sense, man. Cooler heads prevailed. It's interesting that most on here loved Drew for his comment, then turn around and condemn him for the apology.

Not see the irony here?

I tend to agree. Now he should apologize for everyone who thought he had a spine.

I just don't have many things in common with most Saints or LSU fans. Louisiana is truly a racist state and people feel free to bring hate and angry anywhere. Too comfortable to bring racist sht to a place where our pro and college players can see it in one google search. That's what you should be in your feelings about right now. The "you dumb" comment is still the lamest response when you have nothing of value to bring to the discussion. For one, you know nothing about my intelligence or how successful am or not. Stick to the subject. Realer shite.

I acknowledge that what he said was tone deaf and yeah he invited the twitter mob to attack him. That’s on him and his naivety.

My point is that his teammates and guys claiming they were his friends threw him to the wolves. How do you expect to make progress with moderate people when you throw one of the best guys in sports under the bus?

As to the second part of your comment I’m not going to speak on behalf of other posters. Most of this board is a cesspool of horrible opinions.
