I would like to make a prediction that after his great playing career Drew will want to get involved in politics. I think that it is possible that he could be a Senator or even the President. He would definitely get my vote... What a great guy.................

I know he's a smart guy, but what's sad is that Louisianians would vote for him just because he led the Saints to the Super Bowl. They wouldn't even care if he had no experience or if he was even qualified.

A president was just elected basically off of the fact he was black and has good oratorial skills with a Teleprompter. I would not be suprised if he became a LA politician and the country already proved in the last presidential election experience means nothing.

While I wholeheartedly agree with the presidential point, I concur....that stuff belongs on the political board. As does this entire thread.

...or better yet, not run at all.
There's no doubt he will commit to a life of public service after football, as he has already & repeatedly given of his time in the little bit of offseason that he has. But I hope it will be as a citizen, and not as a politician, for his sake.
I mean, New Orleanians turned on NOLA resident Archie Manning for pulling for his own son on "the other side". Can you imagine the about-face on Senator Brees if he made a vote that directly or indirectly affected someone's job or government handout?
Celebrity athlete Jesse Ventura certainly had his fans, ran as an independent, and won. There are many of those same fans that hate him to this day for his political views/positions/decisions.

Next step after NFL is to replace Demaurice Smith as NFLPA President. Book it.

Isn't that the truth; that just doesn't happen anywhere else!
Only Louisianians vote for someone based upon notoriety.
Signed,

We as a nation have voted for former actors an. Wrestlers....I don't think voting for an ex nfler is a step down by any means, ESP when it's a person like drew brees. He seems legit and honest. That's just my .02 though.

I don't think he should go into politics on the Congress/state level, but I do think he could most definitely go into the city government. A lot of people don't necessarily vote for who they believe will pass good legislation or who represents their beliefs the most, its much simpler, they vote for who they "like" for many non-political reasons. Drew Brees has the heart of NOLA, always will, and could most definitely do something in city politics. I pity the fool who would try to run against him.
