I'm in class and can't look up all the stats I want to, but I'm pretty sure Drew remains this year's NFL leader in passing yards and touchdowns. He has now brought his team back to 5-5 and .500 after starting 0-4. He broke Johnny U's record for consecutive games with a TD pass this season, which he continues to extend each week.

How can one NOT give this year's MVP, which stands for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, to Drew Brees. The man is practically operating as QB/O Coordinator/Head Coach each week and performing at a level as efficient as he ever has while doing so. Drew has yet to be mentioned for MVP this season. If his name doesn't enter the conversation this week after all he's done, it's all a sham (even though we already know it is, given he was shafted in 06, 09, and 11).

Drew Brees IS the MOST valuable player in this year's league.

It's a crime that Drew has not won one yet.

Drew Brees will never be awarded the league MVP. He should, but he won't. Sorry for being a negative nancy. I hope I'm wrong.

No doubt, but the media will say the same thing about the Broncos and Manning. Unfortunately It's his to lose right now IMO.

Peyton deserves Comeback Player of the Year, not MVP.

I know he has been runner up at least 3 times. If he played for the Jets, he would have at leat 3 MVPs.

The media is also starting to push Aaron Rodgers

Although Drew should of won previous years I don't think this is his year at this time. He leads in touchdowns with 28, second in total yards behind Matt Ryan, and has a low, especially for Drew, 62.3 completion percentage.

Broncos went to the playoffs and won with Tebo. Manning walked into a good situation. He should be in comp with AP for comeback player, not MVP.

I thought he lead the league in both TDs and yards still? That's what they said at the beginning of the games broadcast yesterday after the Falcons game had concluded.

ESPN shows him 6 yards behind Matt Ryan.

There are still games to be played though and the Saints are hitting their stride so he can't be counted out.

Regarding his completion %: How many times has Drew thrown the ball compared to other front-running QBs this year?

He also threw for only 219 in this past week's blowout, a pedestrian # for Drew. Don't act like Ryan is destroying him in yardage- he's literally only 6 yards ahead with 3,072 compared to Drew's 3,066.

Yup. I've noticed this also.

He deserves it, but the media likely won't let it happen.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Brees is throwing fewer picks than usual?
If not for the whole season, then at least the last 6 games?

Calm down. I was only presenting the facts. Drew can be number one in damn near every stat and they won't give it to him. I'm just saying this year, so far, is his weakest argument for MVP.

ETA: Drew is 4th on attempts with 401 and tied for 15th on the interception list at 9.

And Drew won't win it this year. I watched something yesterday with two talking heads talking about how Payton is looking and one of the guys said that Payton is starting to look sharp and the other guy said so you are basically giving him the MVP too than huh? It was a really dumb statement because it didn't fit into what the other guy was talking about but none-the-less they started talking about it as if they were coaxed in to it.

There's seemingly always an excuse for Brees not getting it. I'm curious as to what the media will use this year. Both Manning/Rodgers' teams were under .500 a few weeks into the season, so they ca't use that one. No one is undefeated. There's no way M. Ryan is in the conversation after you throw 5 INTs in one game.

No doubt. But they will find a way for Manning or Rodgers to get it.

peyton manning rose himself from the dead while remaking the role of the modern quaterback for all others to follow and saved the city of denver from....a bunch of bad stuff.

Wins MVP hands down. Again.
