Actually it is sacrificing for the good of the team. He's taking less money. You basically contradicted yourself. He's not going to take 15 mil a year...like some people think he should.

It should even out if our starting QB (after Brees is gone) has a low cap #. That's probably the plan.

This is a very team friendly deal. Some of you dudes have unrealistic expectations.

Brett Favre is a HOF QB since we using that logic why we didnt kick the tires on him? Here's my real shite questions tho. Are we better now then we were a year ago after this...is there such a thing with a 40 plus year old QB? Are we doing this for loyalty strictly? I feel every year now we are lesser than we were...we have to hide more deficiencies every year now. Love Drew really do...but if Taysom can put fear in other teams he really should get more time. I worry we do really have a talented team...but we are handcuffed offensively now.

it is showing a cap hit of 15.9 this year and 5.4 next year. I don't know if this is right but if so, he absolutely did a team friendly deal. If you don't think he is go look at the qb's that are making more than him.

I just saw that. LINK

Drew Brees signed a 2 year, $50,000,000 contract with the New Orleans Saints, including an average annual salary of $25,000,000. In 2020, Brees will earn, while carrying a cap hit of $15,900,000.

That would be sweet if his 2020 cap # was 15.9 mil. Not sure though. If true, Loomis is a wizard.

We cant push the ball down field so defenses just sit on us. Hell our offense is not even structured to take deep shots anymore and if we do its Taysom taking them. Go watch how explosive this team used to be...a lot of folks forgot already.

Agreed, going 13-3 And 13-3 the last 2 years with a blown call from the refs away from going to the super bowl is lesser than most of the rest of the nfl

Even if it is a one year deal, he's only taken one real paycut and that was in 2006 when he didn't have other options based on his injury and the Saints took a risk on him.

Are you on the wrong board? Because you clearly do not understand football and how contracts in the NFL work.

Amazes me how some of the newer "fans" are so spoiled that they really do not understand what it is like to not have a great QB.

Im just going to use stats...2019, the saints were 4th in the nfl in points and tied for 6th in ypp. In 2018 they were 3rd in points and 7th in ypp. Is that not acceptable to you? If not, what would be?

Brees has definitely lost arm strength. He can still throw it 45-50 yards though. That should be long enough. If we actually had WR's that could get a step or 2 on CB's over 25 yards...Brees will hit them. He & Cook were money at the end of the year.

Taysom threw one pass in the playoff game. It is not like he comes in and throws deep all the time. Drew still engineers one of the best offenses in the NFL.

That's attributed to the talent of the team. Not the QB anymore. Let's not act like it's the strength of our team anymore. They best QBs out here winning chips with lesser talent than we got. Some shite to pay attention to.

I just checked Brees' market value on Spotrac. It's 36.5 mil average annual salary.

No it's not fricking acceptable bruh. What do we have to show for any of those empty stats? Stats stats and dont see what's going on in the games.

Consecutive 13-3 seasons and what should have been a Superbowl if it were not for officials. Is that a huge issue that you think an unknown QB could do better?

That's a very fair deal for him and the Saints. No one should be mad with this
