how do you think he's around the ball all the time and made 120 tackles last year? Just by serendipity. He was just always lucky in the right place at the right time?
Your intangibles only take you so far. You have to prepare to put yourself in a position to utilize those gifts. And clearly, from his overly-productive year, he did just that.

I certainly understand your skepticism, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
This is the part that sort of concerns me.
I could just be looking into too much, but it seems like he accepts being trady as not being a big deal. After the numerous reports last season of players not showing up to practice, game departures, etc. on time, being "a couple minutes late" won't cut it here.

Now I'm reading that I've got 'character concerns.' My sophomore year when I got there, I failed one drug test for Adderall, and I got a prescription for it a couple months later. I never failed another drug test, never got in any trouble, never suspended. I was tardy a lot. I'd probably be a couple minutes late to that meeting or a weight-room session. But everybody loved me

he's still in the denial state.

no, but it wouldn't be easy neither.
Why not? Do you think every "media scout" does their own research, film watching, confirmation of reports on individual player for all draft prospects? I imagine there's TONS of copying and pasting between draft reports at this time of the year. Especially for claims that can't be easily proven, such as the amount of time Dawson spent on watching film and preparing.

Yep agree with you. That's the one negative thing that stood out to me in the piece. I don't know it's a good thing that he acknowledged his mistake or a bad thing that the tone of the sentence makes it sound like he doesn't think it's that big of a deal.
Regardless being tardy is not acceptable in any NFL lockerroom, not just the Saints'. And I'm sure it's been made clear to him and he understands(I hope). I mean something like that is a very fixable problem.

so you are saying that there aren't players in college football that succeed yet turn out to be poor preparation guys? you haven't been paying much attention then. we had one in our very own locker room for a while by the name of Jonathan Sullivan. in college, skills take you quite far. I'm sure he wasn't a complete waste of space and did zero preparations, but to say his success was due to hard work is not a valid statement. talented people can succeed with limited work ethic until they hit the big league

And to say his success was NOT due to prepation and hard work is also not valid. You, nor I, have absolutely no clue what he was actually like behind the scenes and off the field. So until somebody from the TEAM comes out and parrots what that reporter said, I'll give Dawson the slight benefit of the doubt.

exactly, which is why we must base our opinions on the reports we read

It happened with LSU players and Clowney most recently.
But ok, using your logic. From what I've heard, the Pesident is getting impeached tomorrow. Now until you can find a conflicting report that says otherwise from the White House, you must believe me.
