I know, Bleacher Report but it's summer time so what the hell.

It isn't all that difficult to see why Maulet slid out of the 2017 draft. His 4.62 40-yard dash at the combine certainly didn't blow anyone away. Maulet allowed to Hagan that things do indeed move a lot faster at the NFL level.

"The way the speed is, it's totally different from college," says Maulet. "It's a whole new level. It's like they hit the fast-forward button."

However, in 963 snaps a year ago, Maulet graded out fourth overall among cornerbacks at Pro Football Focus. His passer rating against of 39.6 in slot coverage ranked inside the top 10 as well. Maulet also peeled off 18 reps on the bench press in Indy, one of the best showings among his position and a testament to his physicality.

he could be better than lattimore. certainly more durable. ya know josh norman was a 4.7 guy and malcolm butler is also a 4.62 guy. This guy could end up being a top 10 corners. Corners are tough to predict. Love the signing, toof

Found this from PFF Breaux

Arthur Maulet played over 960 snaps in 2016, the second most-used player of the team.
Maulet was the most targeted cornerback of the 2017 draft class, with 93 throws in his direction but only allowed 46 receptions (49.5 percent catch allowed).
He only allowed two touchdowns, while registering 11 pass breakups and two interceptions, as well as five sacks over the course of the season.
His 9.1 yards allowed per reception ranked him second in deep cornerback draft class.

It's going to be tough. We have some serious depth at the position now. And don't forget that De'Vante Harris was loved by PFF as well:

Not sure of his PFF grade, but:

Allowed just one touchdown and 275 yards all season in 877 snaps

I know that you have to assume injuries are going to happen to the CB's (as always) and you can't expect them to all play at their peak, but still:
-Breaux had a fantastic rookie season, especially if you take away his two trips against TY Hilton
-PJ Williams has looked good in preseason games (not a big deal), but has also looked solid in his whopping 2 regular season games
-Lattimore was the best CB in the best CB class in a long time
-Swann has had an up and down career, but looks to be a capable nickel back
-Moore showed some flashes last season. He was given a much larger role than he deserves, but if we get 2 of Breaux, PJ, and Lattimore healthy and playing fairly well, he's fine as a #3 or 4 CB.
-Crawley and Harris both showed some flashes. They weren't good, but they were fine for UDFA's that were thrust into a major role.

Maulet might be our most talented udfa, but he has a lot of competition in front of him. Barring injury...we already know who our top 4 CB's are going to be. Maulet has to beat out Swann, Crawley, DeVante Harris, & Tavaze Calhoun for the #5 spot. Unless we have injuries at CB or we keep 6...I'd say it's unlikely that he makes the team. I hope he makes it though, b/c that would mean he's damn good.

Just based on competition...I think Chase Dominguez(LS) & Travin Dural(WR) have the best chance. Dominguez just has to beat out Jesse Schmidt for the LS job. Dural has to beat out Tommylee, Lampman, Corey Fuller, Jordan Williams-Lambert, & Rashad Lawrence. The depth for that #5 CB spot is much better than the depth for the #5 WR spot. Justin Thomas(former QB) will either be competing as a WR or CB as well. Maybe both.

On a side note...we signed 12 udfa's, & 4 of them are already off the roster. Collin Buchanan(OT), Andrew Lauderdale(OT), Clint Van Horn(OG), & Ahmad Fullwood(WR).

The other 5 udfa's still on the team are John Robinson-Woodgett(FB), Cameron Tom(OC), Cameron Lee(OG), Davaroe Lawrence(DT), & Sae Tautu(LB).

We do have depth, but can't wait to see what Maulet does in preseason.

Seems to me the Saints went after him pretty hard.

CB position has haunted us for what seems like forever, always injuries.

We will see.

I think it's generally assumed that Breaux, PJ Williams, Lattimore, & Sterling Moore are the top 4. Like I said...barring injury.

It may take Lattimore a little bit to catch on, but I think it's highly likely he's in the top 4 by the middle of the season(unless he's a complete bust). Swann has been decent at times & Crawley has potential, but neither has ever played as good as Breaux, PJ Williams, & Sterling Moore have.

It pretty much all comes down to staying healthy at CB. We have plenty of talented CB's.

It's crazy reading stuff like this on the internet when I was sitting in the same lockeroom as him 5 years ago in highschool. Definitely pulling for him

Great style - that's exactly how my players on Madden look. Love the mouthpiece and robot CB facemask.

Here is a nice little nugget I picked up from NFL.Com on Maulet.
