CB issues lie deeper than just missing on draft picks

There is a huge issue with the Saints approach to drafting DBs and it is no clearer than if you realize that our #2 CB wasn't even a CB prospect coming out of college. Yet, the Saints decided to make him into a CB.

White was still seen as a project at both positions, yet the Saints had him on the two deep. They then go and grab another huge project prospect in SJB and he can't even sniff the field.

White hasn't been horrible, but he's not even mediocre either. I think he'd actually be a legitimate safety for this team at least as maybe a #3 or #4, but at CB he's just not there.

The DL doesn't do him any favors, but he stills seems lost 90% of the time.

If the Saints keep picking projects and shifting them to positions for which they are not built, then it is no surprise that the CBs suck.

Who's that?

What? He was a 5th round draft pick that was supposed to be corner #4-5 on the team going into the season.

We lost Greer and Patrick Robinson to injury

White played corner in college. We kept him there. SBJ played corner, we're keeping him there.

The only person we switch was Jenkins

And then you go on to talk about how they missed on draft picks who were projects. What?

As to White he was projected by I think every service and pundit around that he would be switching from CB to safety.
Saints stayed firm that he would be a CB.

As a first round pick, PRob has the talent. He can run with almost any WR. He's can jump. He has great range. He just has zero ball skills/smarts!

Most of our problem is that we lost Greer and Byrd. If our starting secondary was Greer, Byrd, Vaccarro and Lewis, with Corey White and Patrick Robinson subbing in, we should have a much better secondary.

Until we get another GM or other scouts...we shouldn't draft a corner with a high pick. We need to load up on OL, DL, and LB in this draft.

I thought White was a S in college?

I think we need a change in the coaching staff here. The development of DB's has been a consistent issue for the past few year.

On paper that is a very good secondary. But we need a consistent pass rush for fricks sake.

The fact that Malcolm Jenkins is doing well in Philly is all the proof I need.
