I'm told @Saints QB @drewbrees personally wanted @J_No24 on team and was willing to modify contract to make it happen. Effort failed.

I wish he would modify that contract to get some other good players

Well does he realize there were other players available that could've helped the team a month ago???

Do you realize this means he likely has an extension worked out with the team?

Or that if the Saints were in love with another player, it probably would have been worked out?

Ed Werner was told a crock of crap. If Brees wanted to modify his contract he would have already done it

I don't see why they wouldn't just sign the deal now if they had something worked out, but that's kind of what I interpreted from the tweet. I highly doubt that he was willing to outright give up money this season.

There is no way we could have signed Norman without an extension. That didn't just happen overnight....

Could be for draft reasons. No reason for the Saints to be in a hurry for it right now.

Completely agree. Modify tells us nothing

They're playing the draft game, probably trying to get some qb desperate team to trade up to #12

Yeah I'm sure they didn't think there was any other single player in free agency that could've helped the team

Like Fleener?

Or Fairely?

Or are you under the impression that just because a player is available that we should overpay for said player?

Where did I say that dumbass? Think about how much money Norman just signed for. You really don't think that extra space would've been helpful at all during free agency? You don't have to use it all on one player. I'm not saying Brees should be forced to take a pay cut, but if he's willing to do it now to help the team, why didn't he do it during fricking free agency?

nice

I'm the dumbass when we literally signed free agents to good contracts?

I can't comprehend what I posted for you. Who were the other Saints targets that we were unable to sign?

Or do you think this Brees "modification" just appeared out of thin air?

Where did it say he's willing to take a pay cut?

Dumbass

I doubt this was true. If it is true, then Brees should have already restructured to help the Saints. It's kinda late now.

To be fair:

Norman being an FA was a bit out of the blue

Had they signed someone to a mega deal in the beginning, some of y'all would be flaming the board that Loomis overpaid for blue chip FAs and will hurt the team.

You don't think we would've had more/different targets if we had a substantial amount more cap room to work with? Get a brain

The tweet says he would restructure to sign Norman. Not very bright are you?

Yep, the FA market this year has been ridiculous.

Build through the draft unless you're absolutely in love with a player at a position of need

Hell, the board freaked with the Fleener signing

Didn't have to be a mega deal, they could've used it on multiple players.
