I'm coming over from Australia to experience my first saints game to watch us beat the Falcons. Seeing as it's a Thursday night and a nice rivalry game I was just looking for suggestions of the best way to experience the whole day. I'll be with a few mates and we are in our mid 20s so looking for a good atmosphere with plenty of beer!

Cheers!

If you all have not experienced Bourbon St., that's the answer.

The oz on bourbon is great during the day. 3 for 1 drinks and if your handsome you'll probably get some free drinks.

How did you become a Saints/LSU fan?

I'm honestly curios.

Well if you've never been to New Orleans before you're going to end up in the French Quarter anyway...

Thursday games are weird because people will be working that day and I don't think you'll have the same effect a weekend game does

Spend most of the day getting drunk in the French Quarter. With any luck we'll have a decent record at that point so there will be a good vibe going. Closer to the game walk over to the tailgate area, particularly Champions Square. The Saints don't have a great tailgating scene per se because there are so many great bars nearby and our stadium is actually located downtown in the thick of things (in many cities the stadium is farther out of town in a giant concrete lot, so tailgating is the only option for food and drink). Walk On's is a very popular game day bar right by the stadium you may want to stop at. Champions Square is relatively new and a tremendous addition to the Dome area and a great place to soak in the atmosphere right before the game. YOu can also walk around the nearby RV lots where people have set ups with food, beer, music etc. Let me also ask how yall ended up as Saints fans

i agree, start in the french quarter. Find a good breakfast/brunch to start the day off. Stanley is a good spot in Jackson Square. Cafe Du Monde is across the street. Get something in your stomach.

Grab some drinks in the FQ. Lafitte's is one of the oldest bars in the US. Its near the end of Bourbon street. From there id walk up Bourbon and dip into any place that looks fun. Early Thursday, there wont be big crowds, but should pick up once it gets into the afternoon.

Razoo is a bar with a nice patio, it can get hopping on game day.

Bourbon Street Blues Company has big 3 for 1 drinks. They also have a balcony over looking Bourbon, go check it out.

Dip into Pat O'Briens and get a Hurricane(drink) if you must. Check out the piano bar or sit in the patio.

Strip clubs- Penthouse Club is the best in the FQ. its on Iberville.

If looking for lowkey lunch, check out Killer Poboys in the Erin Rose. Or Sylvain, Port O Call, K Pauls, ACME Oyster house, or cross into the Warehouse district and hit up Cochon Butcher. Company Burger is also another option that is close to the Dome.

stop at Harrah's if you want to gamble.

id start walking towards the Superdome around 4pm. Make sure you walk though, its not a bad walk from the FQ at all. Walk-On's (a bar) will be lively, as will Allegro's across the street. Look them up on a map. Champions Square will be lively too, but that isn't too fun for me.

just walk around and enjoy the crowds. Remember you can carry your beverage anywhere on the street with you.

post game, if we win, Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar in the warehouse distrct is a popular post game spot.

Saints were the team I started to follow since 08 as a local Australian sporting team I support are also called saints. Now that I've watched more and more over the years,I now follow it religiously. Once I started to learn more about the whole college game, the tradition, the passion (which is unheard of here in Australia) I've actually started to follow LSU more over the years. But yes I am still a big saints fan so I'll be watching the saints on the Thursday then over to Baton Rouge for the LSU game on Saturday.

Also thanks everyone for the suggestions. It's a massive help, and definitely gonna make an awesome day.
