WAS has the most cap space in the league and the ability to get a franchise QB at 1.2. Best job available

It was the 2nd\3rd best job available this off season.

Next year you could have Cowboys, Bills, and Chiefs jobs come available (rumors of andy reid retirement)

Also, selfishly, I'm going with he really wants the Saints job so he's holding out for 2025 when DA gets fired.

I'll start the rumor that he told Mickey that he will stay in Det until Loomis fixes the cap, and that is why we'll be sticking with DA for now

Begs the question, what was #1?

-washington has new ownership group willing to make every resource available
-Most cap space in the league by $10 mil
- will get Williams/Maye/Daniels at 1.2
- pair rookie QB contract with league high cap space
- extra draft capital
- not expected to win right away

They only have 45 players under contract. This is essentially a Madden franchise mode situation. You can go get a bunch of your own guys. Makes me think they did not want to yield player personnel decisions to Johnson

Have to figure this is happening soon. He'll be 66 before next year, he is currently 4th on all-time wins list with 258 which puts him ~50 wins behind Bill on the all-time list and 70 from Shula

Bill probably getting desperate being 16 behind Halas for 2nd & 26 from 1st all-time.

Chargers were the obvious #1 coaching job.

Elite young Qb. Talented roster.

Herbert is nice. That roster is old, injury prone and expensive and will need to be turned over though. They head into 2024 over the cap by $45 mil. Telesco left a mess there. Tough division and even tougher conference

They got the right guy for the job but I don’t think it’s the best job

What makes anyone think he would want to come here?

Chargers have the 6th youngest roster in the league and are considered to be stacked offensively and defensively.

So I'd disagree. Redskins traded away all their good defensive pieces and their offensive weapons are ok.

Most coaches don't want to go into a rebuild, they would like to go to a team ready to roll. Hence the Chargers is the obvious available job.

Rumors that Andy Reid may retire if they win the superbowl. If not this year maybe next year. No better job in the league than coaching Mahomes in his prime.

After seeing what he did with Goff, no telling what he could do with Mahomes.

They are 11th youngest based on snap weight age. They have some young guys but have drafted poorly the last few years. It’s part of their issue. I mean, stacked teams with one of the best QBs in the league don’t go 5-12. Keenan Allen and Khalil Mack are older and expensive. Mike Williams is expensive and always hurt. Ekeler is gone. $45 mil over the cap, you can only turn over the roster so much this season.

This is a rebuild but not to the extent of Washington. Very similar to what Harbaugh encountered when he took over SF
