Yeah I know, it doesn't translate into winning. Also, we wouldn't have to throw it so much if our defense wasn't so lousy, but it is still fun to watch and follow history. Looks like he could easily surpass 5000 yards once again, even though he missed an entire game. He is currently on pace for 5180 yards which is good for 4th highest all-time. Given the same pace over a full 16 game stretch would give him the record at 5526 yards.

He should have the record. The manning backwards pass not being changed was a joke

Sucks that we can't seem to put a good team around Brees.

It happened in the 2nd quarter of that game and then he was taken out. If Manning wanted to he'd have the record by over 100 yards... So the backwards pass thing is irrelevant in my eyes.

I see your point, but they changed an irrelevant play in the Giants game when reviewing after the game that removed yardage from Drew and added an INT. The league admitted that Manning's probably should have been changed but stated that they would leave the call with the one made on the field. There should be consistency and an unbiased approach when changing stats after the game has been played.

Manning would've broken it anyway. There was still plenty of time left in the game.

I do agree. I just can't get too worked up over Manning having that record with so much time still left in the game. The Brees fumble/INT thing is pretty ridiculous and goes against this exact thing, no doubt that annoyed me.

so you don't think brees was taken out early at the end of the season when he broke the record?

What's crazy is our only two really good era's (Dome Patrol days & the Brees era) both lacked sustained quality production on the other side of the ball.

In the late 80's/early 90's, we were all wishing we could put an explosive offensive team around our dominating LB's.

The Brees era has been more fun for me, not just because of the SB win, but even in 8-8/7-9 seasons, the ability to score quick has been arguably more entertaining. At least we can psyche ourselves out that we might win, if we get the ball last.

The losses used to be so frustrating in the Dome Patrol days waiting for a pick-6 or sack-fumble-TD to save us.
