Rickey Jackson, Sam Mills, Vaughan Johnson, and Pat Swilling

I think this NFL network segment aired around 2006. At the time it was good to see the Saints win something.

#1 Linebacker Corps

This video suggests we ran a 3-4, I didn't realize defenses ran the base 3-4 back then

Who Dat! Heading to NOLA!

The greatness of that LB corps underscores how terrible Bobby Hebert was. If the Saints had had Aaron Brooks, or nearly any other starting Saints QB in franchise history, when the Saints had the Dome Patrol, the Saints would have won a Super Bowl.

OP. Great find here. the segment at 2:45 about Vaughan Johnson is a classic. Never saw that hit on Roger Craig before and that quote by Randy Cross made me LOL.

I love the fat guy from Pittsburgh on the show who is so upset because the Saint's didn't win a playoff game during that time. As if that was criteria for the ratings.

I hate that guy more than anyone in sports. He's the most biased annoying dumb frick I've ever heard. I mute the tv every time they show him on NFL network

The blame can be laid at the feet of Carl Smith, and his ultra-conservative play calling. And even mentioning Aaron Brooks makes this post null and void.

No, Bobby Hebert was a bad NFL QB who threw nearly as many INTs as TDs. His teams' success in the NFL was not his doing. And yes, had Brooks played in place of Hebert, the Saints win the Super Bowl in 1988.
