49ers and a slow, wet field. How much will it slow us down?

Wilbon, Florio, and other talking heads stating this tactic is inevitable. Thoughts?

It only pisses the Saints off and the 49ers get blown out. Not smart to piss off Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Good things don't happen for the opposing team.

It makes them slow too.

The Saints can run the ball but the 49er's can stop the run hard.

But I think there could be a few breakout runs if the Saints stick to the run every 3rd play or so, and you'll see some screens at tricky times, and the greatest passing offense ever with Drew Brees, a wet field isn't going to stop them from getting yards.

They have cleats, not converse.

If that is what they think it takes then that is both a compliment and motivation for the Saints. If that happens expect a onslaught of TDs by the Saints LATE into the 4th quarter.

By the way a wet field==advantage WRs.

We have a great running game and a great short passing game

In years past I may have been worried, not this year

Unless it's a swampy full of mud and puddles I don't see how just wet grass will slow us down that much.

Heck I could see it hurting their defense, make them miss some tackles and slip in coverage.

Well ESPN just reported the niners groundskeeper won't mind a little more mud than usual. So I guess it is mud.

Ok. So, doesn't that help our defense? Are they just hoping to keep it close so they can hope to win in the end?

i actually think it's ridiculous the NFL allows teams to intentionally trash their field

It would slow them down just as much, so in reality we would still be faster.

I was always under the impression that a wet field helps the offense because the defense doesn't know where the WRs are cutting.
