I'm a die hard saints fan and wanted to win this game badly. Saying that, even I wanted him to throw the 16 yd pass instead of a hail mary. Drew deserved that record. Too bad for him.

Chill out Hat.

I would of much preferred a pass underneath to assure the record and then leave it up to the athletes on the field to maybe get into the endzone. The chances of completing a hail mary is just so slim...I would imagine just as slim of the chances of trying to get to the endzone with laterals. It is highly unlikely that Brees will get another chance to beat that record.

Hey he played to win you got to love a guy who could of got the record but say hey i am going to try to win this game he isn't selfish. But you have to thank the panthers because i think Fox wanted him to have it. Heck they did everything to give it to them all he had to do is throw it short they would of let him have it then lay down. But hey Brees still had a great year on a bad defensive team.

Ok, it's simple as this...

I find people who make the argument that "wins don't matter" to be flat out proposterous. To me, it's this. Playoffs, we weren't going to make it. OK, that's fine. I'll concede that. Drew is going for the record. Yes, historical. Does it really matter if we aren't in the playoffs? Then he'll just be the guy who broke the record for absolutely nothing. It's almost a gift & a curse.

And I hate the draft status argument. Winning is a matter of pride. And telling professionals to tank their job is just ridiculous. These guys are competitors. And Lord knows, all of these guys have egos. And its Carolina. One of our arch-rivals. I'm not about losing to Carolina ever. But if you are, whatever.

I wanted Drew to get the record, I really did. I just wanted to win doing so. It just doesn't matter to me if we aren't in the playoffs.

The victory would have indeed meant something. The little details do add up. An end of the season winning record does not happen often for the Saints.

It would have given the franchise its 9th winning season (out of 42 attempts).

fwiw, something underneath, with a lateral, would have given the Saints just as good of a chance to win as a hail mary, as well as giving Brees the record.

I don't think Moore made a great effort on that play

That was a very bad pass...probably due to miscommunication.

check it out dude, I would have loved the win as well...

and of course winning matters, but when you have a guy who deserves that record as much as brees does, it sucks that he didn't get it.

I know the people of NOLA had nothing to do with the record, but as much as this dude has done for us, we (I) personally wanted him to have it. It is something that he deserves.

As far as team moral, winning season.. etc. goes, I would have loved the win and any other time I would have ben just as pissed as you about not getting it.
But this one time, I think Brees getting this record was a little more important. Almost as a way to give back to someone who has given so much.
