We started the season 1-3. Finished 10-6 and won the division. If a team led by Aaron Brooks and Jim Haslett can do it than I have no reason to believe that Brees and Payton can't.

Now back to 4-4! Looking like a playoffpush.

yep, 1-3 start then finished with 10 wins and a playoff win. O and D will have to get much better to have a prayer at that. Atlanta looks really good though. we just need to split with all division rivals if at all possible.

@Philly a toss up
vs Atlanta would be huge
@ Indi they are looking bad themselves so we could win
vs NYG toss up
vs Tenn win
@ Wash win
@ Houston win
vs Carolina toss up
@ Tampa Bay we better win
vs Detroit also should be a win
vs Jacksonville win
@ Atlanta, should we hope they are resting people with a bye and we get in at wild card?

yeah but remember how good our D-line was that year?

not to diss our young players on this years team but that 2000 D got some serious pressure on QB's

yep, no doubt. that group had tons of sacks. howard, Glover, Hand, Johnson. great defense in the red zone as well if i recall correctly.

While I'm more optimistic after last night, counting any other NFL teams as a W after losing to Tampa is pretty dumb.

That defense had 66 sacks that year, a franchise record.

I'm proud to say I was there. Some dumbshit gave us tickets on the front row, midfield of the home sideline.

It
Was
Glorious

Little known fact: Steve Gleason was a rookie that year and was on the sideline. After the Hakeem drop, he grabbed a dry erase board and wrote "just did it", then held it up for the fans. This was a play on Nike's "just do it" campaign that was popular at the time.

None of knew who the Frick he was, but I loved him for that and followed his career closely ever since.

I had season tickets that year. We lost our first game to the Lions and I was like shite why do we always suck. It was a magical year. I thought it was over when Jeff went down.

Proud to say I was there as well with my dad. Up in the 600s but the dropped punt was literally right in front of us. Great memory as an 8 year old.

What were Atlanta and Carolina's records when we were 1-3 back then?

It's important because part of the reason we were still in the mix late last year despite sucking is that Carolina and Atlanta sucked too.

Being 1-3 with both Carolina and Atlanta BOTH at 4-0 is pretty unprecedented and it's what makes a comeback so unlikely... though obviously I'm rooting for it.

Idk but I know the rams were in our division and also finished 10-6 and they were the defending champions.

Ok but just so we are all clear on what would have to happen here... are we really counting on the Falcons and Panthers to lose half, or more, of the remaining games on their schedule? I've got the black and gold goggles on too, but come on...
