Until Tracy Porter in SB 44, this was the play that personified the Saints. LINK

"And it wasn't even close".

That was the icing on the cake.

Yep. Kinda all started with the very first play in Saints history when on September 17, 1967 John Gilliam returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown only for them to go on to lose 27–13 to the Rams.

The look on Jim Haslett’s face when Carney missed the extra point

I'm still a youngin compared to most the whodats who post here. My childhood In a quick snapshot

1. Hakeem drops the ball
2. River City Relay
3. Aaron Brooks backwards pass
4. Culpepper fumbles, kicks, lounges on the field for a nap, picks up ball and walks in 2 pt conversion untouched...infamous gold jersey game with playoffs on the line

That all was quickly erased

With

1. Home Sweet Dome vs Atl 2006
2. Tracy pick 6
3. Deuce carrying 8 Eagles for the clutch first in the playoffs
And all the memories of what the Sean Payton Era was especially the beginning. That 2006-2011 run was just amazing

Aaron Brooks > Donte Stallworth > Michael Lewis > Deuce McAllister > Jerome Pathon > Touchdown Saints

1 forward pass & 3 backwards laterals (the Stallworth to Lewis lateral was basically a straight line... as close as it could be to being a forward pass)... don't think there's been another successful lateral play (2+ laterals after forward pass) for TD since

I won a fantasy football game by one point because of the River City Relay because they credited Aaron Brooks with a TD pass in the scoring system then.

I was about to post this. Glad I found a thread about it.

I was at this game. What’s funny is we met this lady walking out of the stadium wearing Saints clothing. She told my mom, that her husband was gonna be so upset. My mom told the lady, it’s okay, it’s just a game. The lady looked at my mom, and said “my husband is the kicker for the Saints”
