“Zion has lost a good bit of weight”
-Jake Madison

On the latest locked on Pels podcast our own NOLA Jake reports that Zion has lost a good bit of weight and looks good. He expects a legitimate update in the next week or so.

LINK

It’s the back half of the cast, but you may want to listen to the whole thing, just to hear him gush over Herb fricking Jones.

There have been a lot of reports/murmurs that this whole thing, especially the amount of ridicule he got nationally, has really caused him to take it all to heart and caused a change within him.

We will see if that is BS or not.

If not, he is never going to realize his true potential.

He needs to break through the threshold and get under 260. Feels like he’s always yo-yoing between 280-300 the past 3 years

Yep, Pels media bros have talked about that a good bit, about how he's realized at some point a bit ago that a lot of this is on him.

If true, that specific piece may be the biggest Zion news we've heard in months.

Yeah, and I hope it is true.

But actions speak louder than words.

Obviously, his body in terms of his foot and that healing process might be betraying him.

But at some point he will presumably be healthy. He needs to be about it, not talk about it.

What he looks like, his conditioning, commitment to the game and his body..let's see it.

He went to Nike for a boot camp - controlled food and swimming/pool exercise all day. CJ's podcast partner said Zion's been working hard on his conditioning. Swimming is great for getting in shape.

Assuming the bone healed and they're ramping up the weight bearing activity between now and the next scan, I don't think it's crazy to think he can be cleared in a week or 2 and immediately go to 5 on 5 with maybe a week of practice before playing.

People have been speculating 4-6 weeks after being cleared like Klay, but you take that long to 1) Get in shape, which hopefully he's already in shape and 2) make sure the injury is good, which hopefully gets cleared before he returns.

There's no reason he can't hit the ground running if he's healed up and has actually gone from fat to fit.

Yeah, and swimming is no impact, so it should have no effect on his foot while still getting him in excellent cardio shape.

However there is no replicating on court conditioning and work.

Hopefully he is doing that. I'm sure nike has some of the best in the world there working with him, and I would not be surprised if the powers that be, including Jordan (if given permission by the Pels to talk to him), talked to him and put the fear of god into him.

It would be nice to see him this year.

Still doubt it though.

I could only imagine what being laughed at by Shaq and Chuck would do to a young kid.

He probably looked up to them and to have them literally laugh at him on national television should be enough to motivate him.

I'm sure it initially hurt, bad. And Zion seems kind of...young, immature and possibly sensitive. Obviously we don't know him, that's just sort of an impression.

Hopefully he is channeling all of that correctly.

I just listened to the pod cast and I think the OP is underselling it and the weight loss sounds very significant.

The full quote

quote:

I can tell you that from sources, you know that, Zion's lost a good bit of weight, a goood bit of weight. I can tell you that right now. If you were to see him today he looks like a very, very different person.

That quote sounds like Jake has not only seen a picture, but he's impressed. It doesn't sound like this is info he heard from a guy that talked to the janitor at Nike.

Maybe it's an angle pic, we all remember the photo of Zion looking ripped in a mask right before leaving the bubble, but Jake saw that photo too, so I'm thinking he saw some full body shots of Zion looking slimmer than he's ever looked in the NBA.

The quote I pasted starts about the 22:45 mark if you want to hear it and judge for yourself.

Sounds good, but as with anything with Zion, we should be skeptical at this point.

Seeing is believing.

Like who am I supposed to believe, these anonymously sourced reports or my dream last night where he looked puffy and was wearing extra baggy clothes to hide his size at a press conference?

Honestly, when it comes to some of these bloggers, your dreams probably have about an equal hit rate

How the frick is it easier to see a picture of bigfoot then Zion? You would think someone out in public would have snapped a picture of him in the last 2 months.
