Seems as though they are selling out their team for an aging power forward. I really don't get their angle in this.

Hornets are winners in this deal. Lakers get what they wanted. Houston gets reamed imo.

I wondered the same. Perhaps they got something else that we didn't hear about before the trade got shot down. Either that or they extremely overvalued Gasol.

Pau is a center. He only played PF for the Lakers because Bynum is so good.

Then they are trading for an aging PF/C. Giving up a huge amount for it. I don't get it.

Because they know they messed up with Scola.

It's the same reason Charlotte took an injured Chandler. And now we're gonna bail another team out.

I don't know WTF Houston is thinking with this trade especially since they are the ones who throw in the 1st & 2nd round pick

Is that why they met with Nene earlier this week?

I really think there has to be something else.

You are acting like Scola is making Kobe type money. First of all, he puts up great numbers at the PF position. He was top 10, possibly top 5, in PFs last year. Second of all, I don't think his one contract would frick the Hornets.

They wanted to land Paul and then sign Nene.
Lowry/Flynn
Lee
Budinger/Morris
Pau/Patterson
Nene/Hill/Thabeet

That's a stout team.

That makes sense then. I saw somewhere that Nene is looking for something around $14 million a season.

Morey has been under a lot of pressure to bring in a star player. We struck out on Bosh, Melo, D-Will, Amare and some others the last few years so fans have been getting impatient. This trade would have allowed us to free up enough cap space to make serious offers to Nene or Marc Gasol. That would make us one of the better defensive teams in the league.

Anyways, what do you think you should be able to get for Martin, Scola and Dragic?

Hollinger thinks that the Rockets put themselves in great shape to sign a big-time big, he pointed towards Nene. And said with that addition they would be a contender in the West for a top seed.

He also said the Hornets were getting a great deal and he thought the Lakers were giving up a lot and putting themselves in a tough position to make anymore moves after giving up two big pieces.

Im not sure. But I think i could be over valuing Martin. I thought that he would command more interest and more return than being included in a packaged dump off for Gasol.

It wasn't too long ago Pau Gasol was considered to be a Top 5 big man in the league. He was considered by many basketball enthusiasts the real reason why the Lakers were winning championships. One bad post season has killed his trade stock.

Morey taking a risk that 2010 Pau is an aberration and pairing him with Nene. Not the worst gamble.
