AD gets to LA and finally sees what a clusterf--- Jeannie, Pelinka and Klutch have put together. He doesn't get the LA love he is expecting. He finally realizes he was brought out to carry LBJ's jock for a few years. And he goes on the FA market. And all their assets beling to us.

Would be awesome but I don’t see that happening.

Look at our arena those empty seats and look at LA.. It was never about winning he wants that camera time.

It’s possible. Look what Dwight did when he found out LA sucked.

RP insists that AD is going to be a free agent in 2020 no matter what, but that he wanted to sign in LA.

So an extension is irrelevant.

The real question is whether something sours him on LA to where he wants to join, say, the Knicks or Heat, as those are two franchises set to have cap space next season.

If the lack of supporting cast keeps them from winning quick, Staples will feel as welcome to AD as Michael Buble opening for Metallica.

Pretty much.

LA is the ultimate fair weather city. And even when they are winning they don’t necessarily care.

Look at the Rams and Chargers last season. Both went deep into the playoffs but few people in LA seemed to care.

The problem is that they just blew a ton of resources on him. If he doesn’t deliver, fans will start blaming him for the Lakers underachieving.

Because LeBron has gotten taking all the credit and deflecting all the blame to his costars down to an art form.

Unless the Lakers make the Western Conference Finals it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Davis left in free agency.

I don't think that Davis can sign an extension for awhile due to league rules and then he would be taking much less than if he resigned next summer. No one is expecting him to resign until after the season..

Because Lebron likes to take blame.

If La underachieves again, and Lebron gets hurt again, I could definitely see Lebron asking out or abruptly retiring, and them losing AD all in the same offseason

Downside of that is they would have a ton of cap space open up

The thing is, there's not really such a thing as LA love. If you're winning people will show up and dick ride, but if you're losing literally no one cares. There's too much to do in LA. They are the epitome of fair weather fans. I lived there for 5 years. Look at the Rams. LA is full of people that are from elsewhere and are loyal to their teams from back home. If you go to most bars all around LA and the south bay, they'll be great to watch ballgames at, but if the home team isn't good you won't find it on the TV.

only once this century (2011) have the Dodgers failed to draw over 3 million fans

I have been to over a dozen Dodgers games. At most games, fans show up by the third and leave by the seventh. The good seats are like the Pelicans club seats. If it is a bad matchup during the week it looks like you are a ULL Football game. Major League Baseball defines attendance as "tickets sold," not "tickets used." And a lot of people that buy Dodgers tickets use them sporadically. The LA Times does not report Dodger attendance because of the discrepancies between actual and announced attendance.

The only way I see Davis souring is if the Lakers underperform next year, and everyone throws Davis under the bus. Even then, these media outlets bottom line is gonna tell them to protect their asset. I think you’d start seeing more “Lebron is declining” in that scenario, unless of course injuries happen. Even Klutch would have a vested interest in protecting Davis over Lebron logically because of the age difference, but LBJ’s ego knows no bounds.
