In the beginning of the season, I was all aboard the fire Demps/ Fire Gentry train. I felt they were both inept and inadequate for their jobs. But right when Boogie went down, it looked like the team finally figured it out and we were seriously trending upward, Id even say we were beginning to look like a top 5 or 6 team in the league. . Even now, obviously we take a step back when Boogie got hurt, but the addition of Mirotic was huge. So now we are still looking like we have a decent shot at the playoffs.

What say you? If we wind up missing the playoffs, does that mean one or both still go. Or have they earned another year?

This win got me freaking hyped, it's ok to sometimes give credit where credit is deserved.

with demps, the die is cast. Cousins new deal eliminates any options for roster building except for an ajinca or Moore trade and/or cal exceptions which puts them in the tax. This is the team at least for the next 2 years

so they could can him now and it wouldn't matter unless you want to blow it up. I'm not sure what you could do with a coaching change, unless they decide they do want calipari. otherwise, I can't see any changes. This the the path they've chosen

This year it's easiest to do nothing as Gentry and presumably Demps have team options. So if they keep playing well then just keep it moving along. The next year is when it gets tricky. Does anyone really want to commit to 3 more years of Gentry? Unless Finch is going to be the next coach, you probably have to go after an upgrade the following year.

Fire them both. Pay Calipari to do both. It would keep Davis &Boogie here for life.

Even after the skid that the team experienced post Boogie injury, I thought that we should keep both another season. Now we've got a 5 game run going, with a very dilapidated team, I don't see how anyone could argue for firing either.

Demps has put together a team with a shitload of talent, and Gentry has them on a great streak despite missing the 2nd biggest piece.

Gentry is more of a question.

Demps has made mistakes; however, I can’t think of any that never make mistakes. He has has effectively built a contending roster with superstar talent. I really thought the other team he built with Gordon, Evans, and Anderson was a nice squad also when healthy. So I don’t understand how you fire Demps at this point considering the team has elite talent and has unique advantages over contenders in the league. The Pels also don’t have any huge outstanding trades after this offseason either.

Max Boogie, become a tax team, make a few small moves/trades, stay healthy and hope this core team can battle for a title in the next 2-3 years. Demps built it - make him ride it out. If you bring in a new GM it doesn’t matter because he doesn’t have much to work with unless you’re intent on burning it all to the ground.

I’d get rid of Gentry in a heartbeat but I don’t think it happens unless Demps leaves.

They both will probably be back especially if the Pels make the playoffs

What's interesting is what I've head that Davis loves gentry but at best doesn't trust Dell.

From what I've heard Dell doesn't have a lot of friends beneath him. But that doesn't really matter if he has friends above him, which it appears he does since he's lasted this long.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Like Monty, Gentry has improved the record every year.

That didn't happen with Monty Williams. Wonder if what was leaked true that Monty gave the Pels an ultimatum: Demps or him?

Odds are that both are staying put.

I’m good with that. When Boogie went down, I think we went 1-5 before our current streak. If Boogie doesn’t go down, even if we win just 2 more of those we’re the #3 seed right now.

Had Cousins not been injured that team was going to be the 4-6 seed in the west. So that worked clearly. After the injury to pull off enough to still field a team capable of getting up to maybe the 6 seed at best is another great job by Demps under pressure. Both are getting another year at least. Just don't botch the cousins deal....

Crazily enough, the 3 seed is still in play for the Pels. Butler just went down for 4-6 weeks in Minnesota, OKC has fallen to 7th, and the Spurs may not get Kawhi back the rest of the year.

No of course I don't want Gentry for 3 more season. But the questions is, does our "big 3"? Plus who is going to be your 'upgrade' and how much more of an impact would they be? I think the biggest reason for this 5-game streak is Jrue & AD have stepped up, along with Niko & Mek playing well. Maybe that's Gentry getting the best out of those guys, maybe its all the players, I don't know. But somehow it's working and I'm not keen on changing things right now.

Not to mention with all the media-generated narrative of AD getting out of Nola and with Boogie's injury, we need some sense of normalcy. Boogie doesn't need to rehab and learn a new offense/defensive strategy. Just tell him to focus on getting healthy.

What is wrong with the projected roster next season? They don’t need to make a crazy deal for some upgrade.

the 'upgrade' I was talking about was upgrading HC

but for the record, I do think need another competent guard next to Jrue
