What are the lineup options that exclude Jax and fix the rotation issues?

Easiest in my opinion is to just start Nance, especially if the Suns run the two bigs like they did in game 5. If that means that Billy gets some minutes off the bench, then so be it.

Another is to go super small:
Jose
CJ
Herb
BI
JV

This lineup most likely gets torched on the inside.

Any other ideas?

Trey has to play more. Our off/def/net ratings with him on the court are far better than the ones with Jax or DG.

CJ
BI
Herb
Trey
Jval

Backup minutes to Alvarado and Nance. Token final 15-20 minutes to some combo of Graham/Jax/Naji

To further prove your point, Shamit just tweeted
quote:

Through 2 play-in games and 5 playoff games, the Pelicans shoot 76.92% at the rim when Trey Murphy is on the floor. They are shooting 60.78% at the rim when is off the floor

Pulled this from twitter. Maybe start with these stats. Sorry for the size of the pic. I forgot how to make them smaller in the "img" button.

Shamit posted these too, showing the %s with Trey on the court as opposed to Jax on the court.

The spacing is so much better with Trey bc his defender doesn't leave to help. The Suns respect Trey's shot more than DG's, and obviously Trey is a way better defender than DG. Willie has been a fantastic coach and I'm glad we have him, but some of his lineup choices could improve.

It's painfully obvious with the eye test when Jax is in vs when Trey is in what it does for BI/CJ with spacing. Like, very very obvious.

The data just backs it up, as it's even more pronounced than I would have imagined, even if it was THAT obvious.

There's really just no valid argument for Jax getting 16 minutes and Trey 13. Even if you want to argue defense, the defense is also a good bit better with Trey on instead of Jax. Now that's way less obvious as I can't explain that one, but the point is you can't argue the D is so much better with Jax because it simply hasn't been.

I just don't see the logic.

You have 240 minutes to distribute. In terms of minute distribution I would go something like:

BI- 42
CJ- 40
Trey- 28
Herb- 38
Jonas- 34
Jose- 30
Nance- 22
Naji/Jax/Trey/Nance- 6

Start CJ, BI, Trey, Herb, Jonas.

Herb and Jose get 99% of CP’s possessions defending him.

Agreed, and this is my only complaint about Willie. Putting Jax and DG on the court is a negative. Spread the bulk of those minutes between Trey/Nance/Jose.

Yes, it's beyond time for him to move to Sideline Bob.

Please show me on the doll where Jax touched you.

Jax's expectation coming into the league was a project.

This project shoot 65/35/75 against NBA STARTERS and is a 7fter.

He is our BACKUP power forward and he is FILLING IN as a starter.

Jax is not the problem. When we play ball that fits Jax's skills he does good to great.

Zion at 4 and Jax coming in as his back up makes the team better.

COME ON NOW, PELS are 2-3 against the team with the best record in the league and you wanting to "fix" things by ELIMINATING someone who has started all those games.

I wish I could eliminate posters.

Do you have some type of hard on for Jax? The data quite clearly shows that during this series, we are a much worse team when he’s on the floor. Nobody is saying that they want Jax to be cut or be killed, just that he is literally hurting us in this series.

Eliminate your own posts, a-hole.

And it's a series we absolutely can win

Jax is not the problem.
He's not the issue but if we're listing some of the reasons why we're down 3-2 in a winnable series, Jaxson Hayes minutes are absolutely on that list.

We have the entire offseason to talk about all the positives of this season and postseason. Right now, we need to try and win the series. More Jaxson pretty obviously decreases those odds.

Trey Murphy since Jax’s duties are primarily defending smalls and running the court.
