Considering that there were only a handful of PGs in Hornets history, it's not surprising. You had Davis, Paul, Jack, Collison, Dickau, Wesley, and Bogues.

Bogues held the position for 9 years, while Davis and Paul were here for 6 seasons each. The Hornets have only been here for 25 years. And 21 of those years, the position was held by 3 guys.

To be fair, if EG had played a whole season, he probably would have beaten GV.

Any stats that mean anything? Like TO%? TO/36?

How about factoring in assists?

Focusing on a stat that just says "he plays long minutes" in another way is cute but useless otherwise.

And you also have to factor in usage. He was the only guy on our team that Monty trusted to get the ball past half court for about 2/3 of the season.

To quote the linked article:

quote:

However, his record season in turnovers should not be the determining factor in whether New Orleans keeps Greivis Vasquez or looks for another point guard

Why?

a dose of perspective is necessary to assess the impact of this record

Do tell!

quote:

The players with more turnovers than Vasquez could start for any nation's Olympic team in the world.

That doesn't mean he would, however

Needless to say, Greivis Vasquez has less talent around him than any of the aforementioned players

Ding ding ding. Context

Anyone that handles the ball as much as he did this year is going to have high turnovers. The issue is that the rest of our team sucks way too hard, so his usage is higher than it should be.

Even Ryan Anderson is pretty incapable of creating his own shot effectively in isolation. He shoots more set than jump shots and doesn't have the super high release like Dirk, so he can be contested. Gordon was good in spurts, but also a nightmare at times. Rivers were starting to get it and Roberts has definitely improved lately, but Vasquez carried most of the burden.

i agree

as for the draft...BPA

PG may not be our biggest need but Burke could very easily be the BPA when we draft if Noel, Porter, and McLemore are off the board (I left out Smart because I do not think we will draft a 3rd combo guard - then we would have 2 out of 3 combo guards that cant shoot)

His AST%/TO% among players with high mpg is top 10 as well and has been for most of the season if not all.

He has his issues, but the dude can pass well and does so often.

that stat is somewhat misleading..
however he shouldn't be a starting PG in the league in my opinion..
good backup

The only "problem" turnovers I see from him with any regularity are when a trail guard strips him from behind. It's basically just a product of being a bit slower and keeping his eyes upcourt. The alternative would be less upcourt lobs to AD and Aminu, which were some of my favorite plays of the season.
