Trade for Noel?

Any chance at all the pelicans make a move for him?

I really hope not. Even if we got him for free the last thing we need is another flawed player making about twice what he's worth. Asik at $10-$11, Noel at $17-$20, Ajinca at $5, Hill at $12. Individually these aren't big mistakes, but all 4 together you're talking about at least $15 million worth of overpay.

Yeah, the Asik contract is decent and gives you flexibility. Noel is not some all-around talent, so you still have to fill similar holes in his game with the guys around him, but with upwards of $10M less to do it.

Who is that center logging Asik's minutes that isn't paid $10 mil a year? Roy Hibbert?

It's true that you usually overpay for a competent center unless they're on a rookie deal. But we aren't going to be able to trade Asik for Noel so I'm assuming both would be on the roster with Hill and possibly Ajinca. So going after Noel would be idiotic from a cap management perspective.
