Here is an old post from me that I used to explain to someone else how to get there:

quote:

If you are coming from the west, take I-10 until it turns into 90 i.e. dont take I-10 to slidell.

Stay in one of the leftmost two lanes until past this split. The first exit will be for the superdome. Ignore that. Take the next exit for loyola. Taking this exit requires you to switch into a lane on the right that is also a ramp for vehicles entering onto 90 (weave segment). So take the loyola exit down the ramp and get in the left lane. You will now be on Earhart. Right before you get to the first light, there is a U turn that you should take. As you take the U-turn, get into the right lane. The left lane is an on ramp, the middle and right lanes continue straight on earhart. Drive down to the intersection of S. Claiborne and Earhart. Take a right into the lot. I usually park somewhere under the overpass or along the side of the street, but you can also park in this gravel and dirt lot that will be on the right. But it gets pretty flooded sometimes. This is faster if uptown is effed.

Alternatively, you can take I-10 to the carrolton exit and then take a left onto earhart, drive down earhart to the same intersection and take a left into it. This is faster if the interstate is effed.

Try like 2849 earhart for an address. Idk

Its pretty legit because sometimes you have homeless people to watch over your vehicle. But forreal, I park there all the time and theres enough people that park there that I feel pretty safe. Then you just walk up these steps to this pedestrian bridge. After walking across the bridge, you can either hop over the barrier and cross the street (i dont do this) or follow the path between this fenced in parking lot and the barrier (i do this) and you come out at a much safer place to cross the street. You will have to walk over some planks if there are puddles. Its fun

Parking here is free and you can leave almost instantly.

Might leave about an hour before. Thursday I went pretty early because I thought it might be packed, but it seemed like everyone showed up pretty late. With jazzfest and this weather and the way the game thursday went, who knows how itll be tonight. Did you find someone to go with you? Cuz one of my buds says hes interested now. So if you wanna come solo its cool, you can hang with me and my peeps. But if you have someone else Ill tell him its sold.
