This trade has made me pay relevant attention to the Pels and the NBA

First off, I want to say I'm a big sports fan. I'm mostly baseball and football centric, however. I do listen to Russillo and Kanell every day and they do extensively cover the NBA, so for someone who had no real rooting interest in the league I definitely am aware of certain players. Boogie Cousins is one that, through listening to the show, have come to like based on his attitude and play.

I never paid the NBA much attention but now, much to the Pelicans' credit, I'm instantly feeling like I owe them my support. I'm mostly a geographical fan other than my love for the Chicago Cubs...even that was because of WGN. I've been to Pels games and sort of kept up with their seasons lately, but because they've been largely average I've sort of disengaged once the playoffs come around...which is my bad because the NBA Playoffs are where it's at.

Is there room on the bandwagon? Does this make me a bandwagon fan? Or is this just a good move by the Pelicans that make them relevant and grab the attention of what amounts to people like me--the equivalent of an undecided voter?

My view is that this is a great trade. Draft picks, especially for middling teams, are no sure thing. And if you can get a player like DeMarcus Cousins to team with AD23, you put butts in seats and fear in the hearts of the teams trying to get into the top eight in the West.

Go Pels.

So in other words, you hopped on the bandwagon?

I don't have a problem with band wagoners. Hell, that's the majority of sports fans everywhere

If you want to label me a bandwagon fan, fine. But like I said...I'm not hopping on because oh look, the Pels are good gumbo yaya zydeco gator jazz fest poboy!

I feel like they made the effort to get relevant so I owe them my support. I'll take bandwagon fan...but maybe they got a fan for the long run out of this.

This is the exact thing this team needs.

Existing fan base needed rejuvenation, and we need to add more local fans.

This is great for attendance and brand!

Yeah, bandwagoners need to pack the arena. When it's full they really do provide an advantage to the team.

Also for anyone that wants to hate on these guys, remember that Pels Bandwagoners >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lakers and Cavs Bandwagoners.

Eh, I can't blame anyone for not wanting to watch the Pels recently. It was not an enjoyable product. Clearly all signs point to that changing.

Yeah I'm genuinely excited to care about the NBA for the first time in a loooong time.

PS I'm a lifelong Saints and Cubs fan, so I've endured a lot of suck. There's only so much room for so much suck in a bro's life.

There is always room in the second line.

The tank and bandwagon are under one shell. Next it will be dismantled again and turned into a league destroyer. And that's what we plan on doing, destroying the league.

I've always paid attention but yeah NOLA basketball has been very stale as of late. I was even more invested in the Dan Dickau Hornets. Part of that is because I wasn't a fan of the rebrand (I know I'm in the minority on that), and part of it has just felt like the team was on a slow holding pattern until the eventual AD trade in a few years.

This is a game changer full stop

I'm ready for there to be a "Boogie Cam" at the Pelicans games in the SKC

starts on fans dancing in the stands... then just randomly pops up a shot of Cousins
